- If The Economist endorses a coalition rather than a single party, the market resolves to "the named outcome." If The Economist does not make an explicit endorsement, the market resolves to "the named outcome."
- The Economist has a history of making political endorsements in UK elections:
- Historically, The Economist has often endorsed the Conservative Party
- In 2001 and 2005, it endorsed Labour under Tony Blair
