The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final was played on 18 January 2026.
- Senegal won the game 1-0 on extra time and was awarded the trophy, but on 17 March 2026 the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board ruled Senegal had infringed Article 82 and declared Morocco the champions.
- Senegal has announced it will appeal the decision in front of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
- Senegal has a credible case, since the referee explicitly permitted play to continue and there's historical precedent of the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling against the Confederation of African Football in a similar case on 2019.
- The trophy is currently inside a military facility in Senegal.
