Rules
A national concealed-carry reciprocity law would allow people with concealed-carry permits—legal permission to carry a hidden firearm—from one state to carry their firearms in any other state that permits concealed carry.
- Currently, each state has its own rules for issuing concealed-carry permits and deciding which other states’ permits it will recognize, meaning a permit holder can legally carry in some states but not in others.
- A national reciprocity law would standardize this across state lines, similar to how a driver’s license is recognized nationwide.
- Trump has promised to make concealed-carry reciprocity a priority for his second term, although he also promised this in his first term.
