Ultiverse is a Web3 gaming ecosystem that combines AI-driven characters, NFT collections and small blockchain games ("Micro Worlds") connected through its own AI protocol, called Bodhi. ULTI is the ecosystem token on BNB Chain and Ethereum, used by games to pay for integration, by players for in-game purchases and rewards, and by holders for governance and staking. It matters as one of the projects trying to merge large language models with on-chain game assets.
The Ultiverse whitepaper describes an "expansive gaming world deeply integrated with AI", inspired by films such as "Ready Player One", "Free Guy" and "Westworld", where users can play, create and connect. It is organised in four layers:
Protocol layer The Bodhi Protocol, which links Web3 assets with generative AI using large language models and Stable Diffusion models.
Infrastructure layer Ultiverse Live (media), Mission Runner (quests), World Book Creator (AI world-building tools), a marketplace and a Visual DID avatar creator.
Assets layer Electric Sheep, World Fragment and MetaGF.
Application layer DApps such as Terminus and other GameFi, DeFi and SocialFi applications.
The whitepaper refers to "the Company", "the Distributor" and "Ultiverse Project Contributors" and states that ULTI is not intended to be a security in the British Virgin Islands, Singapore or other jurisdictions. It says a legal opinion on the token distribution was obtained from the blockchain department of GS Legal LLC. Individual founders are not named in the whitepaper.
The whitepaper's roadmap set H2 2023 for the Bodhi AI Protocol and a gaming SDK, H1 2024 for the Ultiverse main world and Terminus on PC and Apple Vision Pro, and H2 2024 for a gaming launchpad and an Ultiverse rollup project. It also states that the community exceeds 1.5 million users and that Mission Runner has registered nearly a million user wallets.
ULTI circulates between three groups. Micro Worlds (DApps) pay ULTI to integrate with Ultiverse. Ultiverse then allocates 80% of those payments to reward user engagement in that Micro World. Players earn Ultiverse credits redeemable for ULTI, plus referral commissions, and can also earn assets directly from each Micro World. Player activity also produces data used to train Ulti-Pilots, the AI avatars.
Ulti-Pilots are AI NPCs that users customise and train with Web3 content. They can be sent into Micro Worlds to play on the user's behalf, which users can pay for in ULTI. Supporting contracts, including the Ulti-Pilot soulbound token, are deployed on opBNB, Polygon, ZetaChain and Blast according to the smart contract list.
The whitepaper lists five roles for ULTI:
Staking ULTI earns Ulti Points, a share of platform game revenue and access to token offerings of platform games.
The documented total supply is 10 billion ULTI: Community and Ecosystem 46%, Investors 20%, Core Contributors 17%, Airdrop 8%, Liquidity 3%, IEO 3% and Advisory 3%. On-chain reads in September 2026 returned about 9.33 billion ULTI on the BNB Chain contract and about 0.67 billion on the Ethereum contract, which together match the documented 10 billion.
Ultiverse positions AI characters as the connecting tissue between games: an Ulti-Pilot can carry knowledge and identity across Micro Worlds, and AI NPCs link those worlds to the wider Ultiverse. The integration-fee model, where games pay ULTI and most of it is redirected to their players, is also unusual.
Ultiverse is an application ecosystem, not a base chain. Compared with Virtuals Protocol, which focuses on tokenised AI agents in general, Ultiverse applies AI agents specifically to games. Compared with Moca Network or Xai, which build identity or chain infrastructure for gaming, Ultiverse combines its own content, NFTs and quest platform.
ULTI relies on the security of BNB Chain and Ethereum, and ecosystem contracts rely on the chains where they are deployed. The AI protocol, quest platform and credits run on Ultiverse's own infrastructure. The whitepaper's risk section flags regulatory uncertainty, possible failure to develop, security weaknesses and the risk of dissolution.
Ultiverse is an example of the AI plus gaming trend in Web3: using language models to generate content and characters while tying rewards to a shared token.
