Heroes of Mavia is a free-to-play mobile strategy game with a blockchain layer attached to its item and land economy. Players build a base on an island, train units, raid other players, and collect resources. What makes it a crypto project rather than an ordinary mobile game is that Land, Statues, Heroes, and Legendary Items exist as NFTs, and the in-game reward currency Ruby can be exchanged for the MAVIA token.
MAVIA is the ecosystem's governance and premium token. The canonical deployment is on Ethereum at 0x24fcFC492C1393274B6bcd568ac9e225BEc93584, with a mirrored deployment at the same address on Base, which is where the game economy runs.
Official sources:
Heroes of Mavia is built by Skrice Studios, a Vietnam-based game studio that works exclusively on Mavia. The project sold Land NFTs well ahead of the game itself, launched the MAVIA token in early 2024, and released the mobile game on iOS and Android in the same period.
Unlike many 2021-era blockchain games that never shipped a playable client, Mavia has kept a release cadence. Store listings recorded version 3.1.2 with a last update of May 29, 2026 and cumulative Android downloads in the millions. During 2026 the studio ran a Global Tournament with semifinals on June 24 and a grand final on July 1, and launched Season 1 of Alliance Wars, its competitive guild format. Those are dated, checkable events rather than roadmap promises, which is the relevant standard in a category with a poor delivery record.
The economy is deliberately split so that most players never touch a wallet.
The game layer Gold and Oil are ordinary resources used to build and upgrade. Sapphire is a premium currency bought with regular money. None of this requires crypto.
The reward layer Ruby is earned through battles, achievements, and daily challenges. Ruby is the bridge currency: it crafts Legendary Item NFTs and it can be traded against MAVIA on the project's Ruby Exchange.
The ownership layer Land is a finite NFT that determines where a base sits and improves Ruby generation. Statues, Heroes, and Legendary Items are also NFTs and trade on the project's marketplace. Ownership sits on-chain, so items survive independently of any single account.

MAVIA is used for:
Ruby, not MAVIA, is what players earn by playing. MAVIA sits one layer out, which partly insulates the game's internal balance from token trading.
The supply structure is unusually clean for the category and holds up under direct inspection. A read of the Ethereum contract on September 12, 2026 returned the name "Heroes of Mavia", the symbol "MAVIA", 18 decimals, and a total supply of exactly 250,000,000 tokens. A bytecode scan found no mint function, no burn function, and no owner function in the public dispatch table at all. The token was minted once at deployment and cannot be expanded by the issuer. It does implement EIP-2612 permit, so gasless approvals work.
The Base deployment at the same address is a LayerZero V2 omnichain token, confirmed by an endpoint read of 0x1a44076050125825900e736c501f859c50fe728c. Its balance is backed by MAVIA locked on Ethereum rather than newly created, so the Base figure is a slice of the 250,000,000 and not an addition to it.
The second distinguishing trait is that the game is played by people who do not care about tokens at all, which is rare in this sector and the only durable foundation for a game economy.
Compared with Axie Infinity, which required an NFT purchase before play, Mavia is free to install and free to start, with NFTs as an optional ownership layer. That removes the entry barrier that strangled the earlier play-to-earn model.
Compared with gaming platform tokens such as Gala or Immutable, MAVIA is a single-game token. Its performance is tied to one product's retention rather than a portfolio of titles, a sharper bet in both directions.
Compared with games on dedicated gaming chains such as Ronin, Mavia uses Ethereum for canonical issuance and Base for cheap settlement, inheriting public L1 and L2 security instead of running its own validator set.
MAVIA on Ethereum is secured by Ethereum itself, and the contract carries no privileged supply controls, which removes an entire category of issuer risk. The Base mirror is secured by Base and by the LayerZero V2 messaging layer, which is an additional trust assumption on top of the base chains.
The game itself is a different matter. Combat results, Ruby rewards, matchmaking, and progression run on the studio's servers; only item ownership and the token settle on a blockchain. That is a reasonable choice for a real-time mobile game, but the fairness of the reward loop depends on Skrice Studios operating honestly, not on cryptographic guarantees.
Most blockchain games from the 2021 cycle either never shipped or shipped something nobody wanted to play twice. Mavia shipped, kept updating through 2026, ran real competitive seasons, and structured its token so that what players earn is not what speculators trade. It is one of the better-executed examples of the pattern and a useful benchmark for the rest of the category.
MAVIA trades on centralized exchanges and on decentralized venues on Ethereum and Base. Availability varies by jurisdiction, and the network a withdrawal lands on matters because the same address exists on two chains.
