Gifto (GFT) is the token of Gifto, a project that began in 2017 as a blockchain protocol for virtual gifts in live-streaming apps and later repositioned itself around a Web3 wallet and NFT gifting. It matters today mainly as a case study: it was the first project sold through Binance Launchpad, and in late 2024 its token supply more than doubled shortly after Binance announced a delisting. Anyone looking at GFT should read it as a legacy asset with a contested supply history rather than as an active product.
Gifto was conceived as a "virtual gifting protocol": a way for viewers on live-streaming platforms to buy digital gifts for their favourite creators, with the gifts represented as tokens on a blockchain instead of as balances inside a single app. The project was created by the team behind Uplive, a live-streaming app, and the intention was to let gifts move between platforms and be cashed out by creators.
The original token traded under the ticker GTO. In 2023 it was replaced by GFT, a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain. Under the "Gifto Metaverse" branding, the project described a native wallet, staking services and a Gifto store where users could buy NFT collections as gifts. According to reporting by Cryptopolitan, none of those promised products became operational.
The project's own website (gifto.io) returned an empty "403 Forbidden" response when checked for this page, so there is no live official product page to point to.
According to a history of the project published by PANews:
In November 2024, after Binance announced it would delist GFT, 1.2 billion new GFT tokens were minted. CoinDesk attributed the minting to the project's founders and reported that the tokens were distributed to 19 wallets across seven exchanges, including KuCoin, MEXC and HTX, and that Gifto's social channels had not responded at the time. Cryptopolitan reported that on-chain investigator ZachXBT identified the minting, and that the project had previously promised a hard cap of 1 billion GFT.
GFT is a standard BEP-20 token on BNB Chain at the contract address 0x72ff5742319ef07061836f5c924ac6d72c919080. It has no chain of its own, no validators and no staking layer: transfers, balances and supply are all handled by the token contract and secured by BNB Chain.
The original gifting design worked like this:
A viewer buys a virtual gift inside a participating streaming app. The gift is recorded as a token rather than as an internal app balance.
The gift is sent to a creator during a broadcast. Because the gift sits on a public chain, it can in principle be held, traded or cashed out outside the app.
The creator converts gifts into value. The token was meant to give creators a portable income stream that did not depend on one platform's payout rules.
That design never reached broad use beyond the project's early partnerships, and the later GFT token was presented around wallet and NFT features instead.
In its original design the token was the medium for virtual gifts between viewers and creators. After the 2022 rebrand, GFT was described as the token for a Gifto wallet, staking and an NFT gift store. With those products not operating, GFT has no documented active utility beyond being transferable and tradable.
On supply, the project had promised a hard cap of 1 billion GFT (as reported by Cryptopolitan). A direct read of the token contract's totalSupply on BNB Chain in September 2026 returned roughly 2.24 billion GFT. That figure is our own on-chain reading and differs from the promised 1 billion cap; it is consistent with the 1.2 billion mint reported in November 2024. Reports at the time gave post-mint totals between 2.24 and 2.4 billion.
Gifto's main distinction is historical. It was the first token sale run on Binance Launchpad, a model that later became a common path for new tokens, and it was one of the earliest attempts to connect live-streaming gift economies with public blockchains. It was also early to on-chain art through the "Forever Rose" project in 2018.
Gifto is a single token, not a blockchain. Compared with creator and media projects such as Theta Network or Audius, which run their own infrastructure (a video delivery network and a music streaming protocol respectively), Gifto relied on a partner app for distribution and on BNB Chain for settlement. Fan-token projects such as Chiliz tie tokens to specific clubs and an operating app; Gifto has no comparable operating product today.
GFT's transfers are secured by BNB Chain's validator set. The key risk sits in the token contract itself rather than the chain: the November 2024 events showed that the contract allowed new tokens to be minted after launch. Binance suspended GFT deposits on November 29, 2024, citing "a potential security issue involving the GFT smart contract." No public audit of the GFT contract was found for this page.
Gifto matters less as an investment thesis than as a reference point. It shows how an early, heavily subscribed token sale can end with a dormant product, and how a mintable token contract can change a token's supply after the fact. For readers comparing older tokens, it is a reminder to check contract permissions and the actual on-chain supply rather than relying on a stated cap.
GFT is no longer traded on Binance. Reporting from November 2024 said minted tokens were sent to several other centralized exchanges, but listings change and some may have been removed since. If you look for GFT elsewhere, confirm that the venue still supports it and that it uses the BNB Chain contract above. Decentralized exchanges on BNB Chain can also list any BEP-20 token, so verify the contract address before trading.
GFT is a BEP-20 token, so it can be held in any wallet that supports BNB Chain, such as Trust Wallet, MetaMask configured for BNB Chain, or a hardware wallet with BNB Chain support. Add the token manually using contract 0x72ff5742319ef07061836f5c924ac6d72c919080 and check it against a block explorer such as BscScan.
