NVIDIA xStock is not a blockchain project. It is a tokenized equity product: a token that gives economic exposure to shares of NVIDIA Corporation, issued under the xStocks brand. There is no NVIDIA protocol, no consensus mechanism, no validator set and no founding development team behind it, and any description that gives it those things is wrong.
Each xStock token is a bearer debt instrument classified as a tracker certificate, fully collateralized one-to-one by the underlying share held with a regulated custodian. The issuer's documentation is direct about the limits: the instrument "provides economic exposure to the underlying equity," it "does not confer shareholder voting rights," and xStocks "are structured financial instruments, not direct equity ownership." NVIDIA Corporation is not the issuer, is not a party to the product, and does not endorse it.
The token is issued natively on several networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Mantle, TON and Ink, and can be held in a self-custody wallet and used in decentralized finance like any other token.
Official sources:
xStocks are issued by Backed Assets (JE) Limited, a Jersey special purpose vehicle dedicated solely to the issuance and redemption of xStocks. It maintains its own bank and collateral accounts, runs know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering procedures under Jersey law, is registered with the Jersey Financial Services Commission, and holds the COBO and CGPO consents required to issue security tokens.
The product line came from Backed Finance AG, a Swiss company that previously issued tokenized securities under the bToken brand. xStocks went live on June 30, 2025 with Kraken and Bybit as launch partners and immediate availability on Solana decentralized exchanges. Tickers carry an "x" suffix, which is where NVDAx comes from. In December 2025 Kraken announced an agreement to acquire Backed, and the acquisition later completed, so the issuer now sits inside a large exchange group rather than standing alone.
The product runs on two distinct layers, and confusing them causes most misunderstandings.
The primary market, where tokens are created and destroyed Access requires onboarding with the issuer, including KYC and AML checks, after which specific wallet addresses are whitelisted. Only whitelisted wallets can issue or redeem. To create tokens, the issuer or its broker buys the underlying share on a traditional exchange and deposits it with a regulated custodian, and a matching token is minted on chain. Redemption reverses that. Issuance and redemption run on a five-day schedule aligned with U.S. equity market hours, because that is when the share can actually be traded.
The secondary market, where tokens trade Once issued, the token moves freely with no technical transfer restrictions. It can trade on supported exchanges and decentralized venues around the clock, sit in any compatible wallet, and back a loan or a liquidity position. Secondary trading does not involve the issuer, and price discovery there is independent of the primary market.
That split is why the token can trade while the underlying stock market is closed, and why its secondary price can drift from the reference share price during those periods.
Dividends, stock splits and reverse splits are handled by an on-chain rebasing mechanism the documentation calls the multiplier. Every xStock launches with a multiplier of 1.0, meaning one token represents one share. When the company pays a dividend, the custodian receives the cash for all custodied shares and reinvests it, net of applicable withholding taxes, into more shares of the same stock, and the multiplier rises. A split raises it proportionally; a reverse split lowers it. Holders do nothing.
The multiplier is published on chain before an event takes effect and activates at 00:30 UTC on the day after the ex-date, and venues are advised to pause interactions briefly around that timestamp. On EVM networks the contract adjusts balances directly, so a standard balance query returns the equity-adjusted figure. On Solana and TON the on-chain balance stays constant and the multiplier lives in token metadata for wallets to apply.
NVDAX has no protocol utility in the way a native network token does. There is nothing to stake, no fees paid in it, and no governance attached. What it offers is:
Against owning the share through a broker, the contrast is stark. A shareholder has voting rights, cash dividends and a direct claim on the company. An xStock holder has none of those: no vote, no cash dividend (it is reinvested through the multiplier), and a claim on the issuer's collateral rather than on NVIDIA. In exchange the holder gets self-custody, fractional transfers, continuous secondary trading and composability.
Against other tokenized equity products, the comparisons that matter are structural rather than technical: who issues the token, under which regulator, who custodies the shares, whether collateral is segregated per asset, who may redeem, and what happens on insolvency. Against tokenized commodities or Treasury products, an xStock carries full single-stock volatility; it is a passthrough to one company's share price, not a yield instrument.
Security here means two different things. The legal and financial layer rests on one-to-one collateralization with a regulated custodian, asset-by-asset segregation in dedicated sub-accounts, a bankruptcy-remote issuing vehicle, an independent Security Agent able to act if holders' rights are not upheld, and publicly verifiable proof of reserves. The technical layer is ordinary token security: audited contracts, the chain the token sits on, the bridge used to move it, and the holder's own key management. Self-custody means no broker will reverse a mistake.
Tokenized equities are one of the more serious attempts to connect public blockchains to conventional capital markets, and NVDAX is a representative example. It shows what the format adds, which is self-custody, fractional exposure, continuous transferability and programmability, and what it removes, which is direct ownership, voting rights and the protections of a brokerage relationship. The structure, not the ticker, is the product, so read the prospectus and Final Terms rather than a summary.
NVDAX is available on centralized exchanges that list xStocks and on decentralized venues on supported chains, with much of the on-chain liquidity on Solana. Availability depends on jurisdiction, and the product is not offered to U.S. persons or in other prohibited jurisdictions. Check the published restrictions first.
xStocks have been available on venues including:
Decentralized liquidity is concentrated on Solana venues such as Raydium, usually reached through aggregators. The xStocks site keeps the current list of Alliance members and integrations.
Confirm the chain and exact token address before any transfer. The same product exists on several networks with different addresses, and if your wallet reads balances from metadata rather than from the contract, make sure it applies the multiplier correctly.
