DOVU is the token of a United Kingdom company building software for issuing, documenting and trading ecological credits, most visibly soil carbon and other nature-based credits. The token is not a smart contract platform asset. It is the fee and incentive asset for DOVU OS, a workflow platform that turns the paperwork behind a credit into structured, auditable on-chain records.
The asset is a native Hedera Token Service token with ID 0.0.3716059, eight decimals, and a finite supply of 10 billion units. That supply is not a claim taken from marketing material: querying the Hedera mirror node shows the token was created on 5 September 2023 with a finite supply type and with no supply key, no admin key, no freeze key, no wipe key, no KYC key and no pause key. In Hedera terms that means nobody can mint more, burn from the issuer side, freeze accounts, claw back balances or alter the token's properties. The token is effectively immutable.
Development is active rather than dormant. The project published product and token posts through mid-2026, its public repositories show commits during 2026, and it launched a second token, TRUST, alongside a staking program in July 2026.
Official sources:
DOVU was founded in the United Kingdom by Irfon Watkins and Krasina Mileva, with an initial token sale in October 2017. The original concept was a data marketplace tied to mobility, and the company later refocused entirely on carbon and ecological credits. Reporting indicates Watkins moved to the role of Chair with Mileva taking over as chief executive around the end of 2024, alongside a third version of the project white paper.
The token's migration history matters. The original asset was an Ethereum ERC-20 called DOV, which also existed as a bridged representation on Hedera. Following a community vote in September 2023, holders approved a move to a single Hedera-native token with a snapshot taken that month and distribution to eligible accounts. The stated reasons were to remove multi-network bridge risk, simplify the token structure and address inflation in the older design. The bridge used for that migration, hashport, announced it was winding down operations at the end of May 2026, which is relevant to anyone still holding legacy assets.
A workflow engine for credit creation DOVU OS models a credit project as a configurable workflow. A configuration language describes the project, and flows, runs and records capture each step so the resulting credit carries an auditable trail of how it was created and who approved it.
Hedera Guardian integration DOVU OS builds on Hedera Guardian, a policy and decentralized identity framework used for environmental credit methodologies, which supplies schemas, policy enforcement and identity primitives.
The Charger Protocol This is the fee layer that connects the token to the platform. Fees are quoted in US dollars for predictability. The documentation describes an early phase where enterprise fees are collected in fiat, moving toward real-time micro-payments settled in DOVU through an allowance mechanism, with credit minting as the first fee category.
A dual-token split In 2026 the project introduced TRUST, a separate token for Authority Trail, a layer that records who was permitted to act, in what role and during what time window. The stated division is that DOVU pays for workflow execution while TRUST meters authority-state changes such as role creation, renewal, delegation and revocation.
On supply mechanics, DOVU is unusual in a useful way. Because the Hedera token has no supply key, the issuer cannot create new units, and there is no contract-side burn. Distribution of the full 10 billion supply completed in 2026, so changes in balances now come from movement out of treasury and holder accounts rather than from issuance. Anyone can verify this independently through the Hedera mirror node rather than taking it on trust.
DOVU is not a chain, and comparing it to one misses the point. Against other tokenized carbon projects:
The token inherits its security from Hedera's consensus and from the Hedera Token Service rather than from a smart contract the project wrote itself. This removes a whole class of contract risk: there is no upgradeable proxy, no owner, no mint path and no pausing mechanism on the token.
The application layer is a different matter. DOVU OS is a hosted platform, and the integrity of a credit depends on the methodology, the underlying measurement data and the verifying body, not on the blockchain record. A tamper-evident audit trail proves that a claim was recorded and by whom; it does not prove the claim was scientifically correct. DOVU's own 2026 writing makes that distinction explicitly, which is a point in its favor.
The hard problem in carbon markets is not moving a credit, it is proving how a credit was created and who was allowed to sign off on it. DOVU is one of the few long-running crypto projects that has stayed on that problem instead of pivoting to whatever narrative was current, and it has a token whose supply properties can be verified in a single query rather than argued about.
DOVU trades on a modest set of centralized exchanges and on Hedera-based decentralized venues. Because the asset migrated from Ethereum to Hedera, confirm that a listing refers to the Hedera-native token and not the legacy ERC-20.

Centralized coverage for DOVU is narrower than for large-cap assets, and support depends on whether an exchange has integrated Hedera Token Service withdrawals. Check the network and token ID an exchange lists before depositing or withdrawing, and treat any listing that still references an Ethereum contract with caution.
One Hedera-specific detail matters: an account must associate with a token before it can receive it. If a transfer appears to fail, association is usually the reason.
