Lagrange is a verifiable compute company, and LA is the token that pays for the proving work its network performs. The core idea is narrow and concrete: hard computations are executed off-chain by specialized operators, who return a cryptographic proof that the result is correct. Anyone can check that proof cheaply, which lets a blockchain, an application, or an auditor accept a result it could never afford to recompute itself.
Lagrange applies that idea in three directions. The ZK Prover Network is a general marketplace for proof generation. The ZK Coprocessor lets applications run SQL-style queries over historical blockchain state and get a proof of the answer. DeepProve produces a cryptographic receipt for an AI inference, so a verifier can confirm which model ran on which inputs without seeing either.
Official sources:
Lagrange Labs is a venture-backed research and engineering company working on zero-knowledge proof systems. Its public identity is the company and its research output rather than a single celebrity founder, and the team publishes its papers and circuit code openly.
The LA token was introduced by the Lagrange Foundation, a separate entity created to steward the network's economics, in a post dated 26 May 2025. Token generation event registration for the community allocation opened on 28 May 2025.
One thing to note when reading older third-party write-ups: as of September 2026 the company's own site leads with a defense and autonomy product called Halo alongside DeepProve, describes those two as its production products, and presents the ZK Prover Network as the proving infrastructure underneath. Descriptions that frame Lagrange purely as a rollup coprocessor company are out of date.
The ZK Prover Network is documented as a modular system rather than a single prover.
Gateway A client submits a proof request. The Gateway authenticates it, normalizes the input across proof systems, and places the task in a persistent queue so a failure does not lose work.
Dispatcher and DARA An embedded Dispatcher breaks the task into job slices classified small, medium, or large by hardware requirement, then advertises them to the prover pool. Allocation uses DARA, short for Double Auction Resource Allocation, which selects provers by balancing cost, availability, and performance rather than round-robin assignment.
Provers and aggregation Operators run provers that produce partial proofs, which are written to a storage layer. Once every slice in a batch completes, the Gateway aggregates the partial proofs into a single output and returns it. Retries and reassignment happen inside the Gateway, so integrators do not build their own failover.
The stated design goal is to avoid the single-gateway bottleneck of monolithic prover networks by supporting multiple independent subnetworks with dedicated bandwidth.
According to the Foundation's published tokenomics, LA is used for:
The Foundation states explicitly that LA holders do not accrue fees or emissions through passive holding. Rewards flow to stakers and delegators who direct them, and to provers who do the work.
The first standout is the auction-based allocation layer. Most prover networks assign work by queue or by whitelist. DARA treats proving capacity as a two-sided market, a genuinely different approach to pricing a scarce and heterogeneous resource.
The second is the breadth of proof targets. The same proving substrate is pointed at rollup batches, historical-state queries, and machine learning inference, rather than at a single vertical.
The third is that the code is inspectable. DeepProve, the coprocessor, the network contracts, and the prover worker are all published, which is not universal among proving startups.
Lagrange is not a Layer 1 or a rollup, and it does not run its own settlement chain. It is a service network whose output is proofs, so comparisons to chains are usually the wrong frame.
Against data-availability and modular-infrastructure projects, the difference is what is outsourced. A data availability layer promises that data was published. Lagrange promises that a computation over data was performed correctly. Against restaking-secured services generally, it sits in the same EigenLayer neighborhood but sells computation rather than attestations.
Against other zero-knowledge machine learning efforts, the differentiator the company claims is throughput. Its documentation cites proof generation up to roughly 1000 times faster and verification roughly 671 times faster than prior zkML approaches. Those are vendor-published benchmarks, so read them as claims to test rather than as independent measurements.
Network reliability rests on operator stake. When an operator accepts a proof task, a portion of stake is bound as active collateral, and total active stake cannot exceed total delegated stake. That caps how much work an operator can accept and makes non-delivery costly.
The token's own properties are worth stating precisely, because they are checkable. Read from Ethereum mainnet on 11 September 2026, the LA contract at 0x0fc2a55d5bd13033f1ee0cdd11f60f7efe66f467 returns the name Lagrange, the symbol LA, and 18 decimals. It is an EIP-1967 transparent upgradeable proxy, with the implementation at 0x0e9eb455d94224e2fb67074b1749df2239fbc2db and a separate proxy admin contract. The implementation is a LayerZero omnichain fungible token, exposing the standard send, quoteSend, peers, setPeer, and endpoint functions, and it uses OpenZeppelin access control with default-admin transfer delays. It includes a mint function and exposes no cap or maxSupply function. Peer contracts were configured on the same date for the LayerZero endpoint IDs corresponding to BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and Solana, which is how LA moves between networks under a burn-and-mint model.
Verifiable computation is one of the few primitives that changes what software can be trusted to do. If a proof that an inference ran correctly becomes cheap enough to attach to every model call, auditing an AI system stops being a matter of policy and becomes a matter of arithmetic. Lagrange is one of the more credible attempts to make that economically practical, and it has shipped inspectable code rather than only papers. Whether the token economics capture that value is a separate and open question.
LA is available on centralized exchanges and on decentralized venues across the networks where the omnichain token is deployed. Availability and pairs vary by jurisdiction, so confirm which network a platform uses for deposits and withdrawals.

Because the same ticker exists on several networks under different address formats, always match the network before sending.
