KARRAT (KARRAT) is an ERC-20 utility and governance token on Ethereum that powers the KARRAT Protocol, which its documentation describes as "a decentralized gaming infrastructure layer" for games, entertainment and AI products. Its first and best-known partner is AMGI Studios, maker of the game My Pet Hooligan, whose genesis NFT holders received a dedicated token claim. KARRAT matters as an example of a game studio spinning its token out into a foundation and a community governance structure, KARRATco, rather than keeping it as an in-house currency.

What Is KARRAT?

KARRAT is the token of the KARRAT Protocol and the membership token of KARRATco, the community collective that governs it. According to the official documentation, the token has three pillars: govern, incentivize and utilize. It lives on Ethereum at contract 0xacd2c239012d17beb128b0944d49015104113650, and the docs state an initial supply of 1 billion KARRAT that cannot be inflated.

Who Founded KARRAT? (History)

KARRAT is stewarded by the KARRAT Foundation, which the docs describe as a Cayman Islands foundation company governed by a board of directors. Individual founders are not named in the documentation. Governance follows a proposal flow modeled on other DAO frameworks: a KARRAT Improvement Proposal (KIP) is discussed on the governance forum for a week, then goes to a Snapshot poll, which requires an address able to vote at least 100,000 KARRAT, and then to on-chain voting.

• Unlock schedules: team and advisor tokens have 4-year lockups (first unlock at 13 months, then monthly), early contributors up to 2.5 years and development tokens up to 4.5 years, so supply entering the market grows over time.
