Unitas is a yield infrastructure protocol that issues an on-chain dollar backed by a basket of delta-neutral trading strategies. It has two core products: USDu, an overcollateralized token targeting a soft peg to one US dollar, and sUSDu, a savings token that auto-compounds protocol revenue. It runs on Solana and BNB Chain under the Unitas Labs and Unipay names; the UP token is deployed on BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum and Solana.
Official resources:
The people behind Unitas are not publicly identified in the official documentation, which presents it institutionally as Unitas Labs governed by a Unipay DAO and refers to a founding team only as an allocation category. The docs list the token generation event as scheduled for February 2026, and UP was distributed via Binance Wallet's exclusive TGE program.
Unitas accepts collateral, mints USDu against it, and opens short perpetual futures that offset the collateral's price exposure. Yield comes from trading fees, funding payments, trader losses passed to liquidity providers, and protocol fees. Burning USDu closes the positions and releases collateral; staking USDu mints sUSDu, with a seven-day cooldown. Collateral includes SOL, ETH, WBTC and JLP, overcollateralized above 102 percent, and hedges are refreshed hourly under per-exchange caps.
UP is a governance token, not a claim on protocol assets. Holders stake it for sUP, reversibly and subject to lock and cooldown rules, and governance covers risk frameworks, collateral, fee structures and yield allocation. Revenue sharing is gated: a fee switch is off by default and can only be enabled by vote once USDu supply passes one billion dollars, cumulative revenue passes one hundred million, and USDu lists on three of the top five derivatives exchanges.
The collateral basket is Solana-centric and built around JLP, tying yield to perpetual trading activity rather than funding rates alone. Value accrual is also unusually gated: most governance tokens leave revenue sharing to discretion, while Unitas publishes thresholds that must clear first.
The closest comparison is the synthetic dollar model, where spot collateral is hedged with short perpetuals and a staked version distributes the carry. Unitas includes an LP index token rather than concentrating in staked ether or bitcoin, and has extended the machinery to gold. Unlike stablecoins issued as user debt, a depositor takes on no loan and no liquidation threshold, shifting execution risk to the protocol.
The docs list independent audits in both environments, Scalebit and Oak Security for the Solana programs and Scalebit and SlowMist for the EVM contracts, plus a standing bug bounty. Vault addresses are published so balances can be checked independently, hedging collateral is mirrored through off-exchange settlement rather than left on exchanges, and governance sits on a five-of-nine multisig.
Delta-neutral yield is not risk-free yield. The documentation itself states USDu is not a bank deposit and is not government-insured, and lists peg deviation, contract failure and negative yield as real outcomes: funding rates can invert in bearish conditions, turning the carry trade into a cost.
Counterparty risk is material, since hedges sit on centralized derivatives venues. Exchange insolvency, withdrawal freezes or custodian failure could break the hedge even if the contracts behave as written, and hourly rebalancing leaves the position imperfectly neutral in between. UP grants governance rights and nothing more unless the fee switch activates.
Unitas belongs to a shift in which on-chain dollars are backed by hedged trading positions rather than bank deposits or user debt. That lets a stablecoin pay yield sourced from market structure itself, and makes the risk profile of assets labelled "stable" a live question.
UP trades on centralized exchanges and on decentralized venues on all three of its chains, so the route depends on which chain you hold assets on. USDu can instead be minted directly by depositing collateral. Confirm the contract address against the official docs first, because UP's vanity-format addresses are easy to imitate.
On BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum, UP is a standard ERC-20 style token and works with any EVM wallet, including hardware wallets. On Solana it is an SPL token needing a Solana wallet. Staked positions are not immediately liquid, since sUP has lock and cooldown rules and sUSDu a seven-day cooldown.
