Balance is an AI and Web3 platform for gaming and social interaction built by the team behind E-PAL, a gaming companion service launched in March 2020. EPT is its token, used for payments, governance and incentives across Balance's apps, protocols and planned chain. It matters because it tries to carry an existing Web2 user base, which the project puts at 4.2 million users, into on-chain gaming and AI agent services.
Balance describes itself as "AI-Focused Web3 User Experience Infrastructure" on its official site. In practice it is a layered stack: consumer apps such as gaming companions and AI agents at the top, game and NFT platforms in the middle, and protocols, a token, an identity system and a planned chain underneath.
The core product idea is the AI Epal: a personalized AI agent that users create from custom prompts, strategies and preferences, which can then play games with or against people and take on other entertainment, learning or work tasks.
EPT is a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain at 0x3dc8e2d80b6215a1bccae4d38715c3520581e77c (BscScan).
Balance comes from the E-PAL team. According to the Balance docs, E-PAL launched in March 2020 with backing from a16z, Galaxy Interactive, YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, Riot Games CEO Marc Merrill and League of Legends director Thomas Vu, and had partnerships with game companies including Riot Games, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Blizzard and EA. Individual Balance team members are not named in the docs.

The Key Node documentation refers to a supply of 10 billion EPT, of which 2.5 billion (25 percent) is allocated to Key Node holders. The docs also state that 50 percent of Epal and Balance revenue goes toward increasing the foundation's EPT reserves.
Most AI agent and GameFi projects start from zero users. Balance starts from an operating Web2 marketplace of human gaming companions and tries to add AI agents and token payments on top, which gives it existing demand to route through EPT.

EPT on BNB Chain relies on BNB Chain's validator set. The node system is meant to supply decentralized compute, but no audit reports are linked in the docs we reviewed, so users should treat contract security as undocumented.
