PSG is the official Fan Token of Paris Saint-Germain Football, a club engagement asset that gives holders access to club polls, rewards and experiences through the Socios.com platform. It is not issued by the football club and it is not a protocol with a chain or a team of its own.
That distinction is the single most important thing to understand about this asset. PSG was issued in January 2020 by Socios Services Limited in partnership with the club, on the Chiliz Chain, using the CAP-20 token standard (the Chiliz Chain equivalent of ERC-20). Paris Saint-Germain licenses its identity into the product. It does not operate the blockchain, the issuing entity, the token contract or the application.
Official sources:
The issuer of record at launch was Socios Services Limited. Following the initial offer to the public, that entity transferred the reserve of unsold PSG tokens to its Swiss affiliate Socios Technologies AG as of January 2021, and from that date the Swiss entity assumed responsibility for managing post-offering sales and distributions. Both sit within the Chiliz group, which also operates the Chiliz Chain and the Socios.com application.
The public offering ran as a fan token offering with no pre-sale, structured for equal access, with 4,000,000 PSG offered to the public at a price equivalent to 2 euros per token paid in CHZ. The club was one of the earliest and highest-profile adopters of the format, and PSG remains one of the most recognized fan tokens as a result.
A crypto-asset white paper for PSG was notified under the European Union's markets in crypto-assets regulation on 6 October 2025. That document, not marketing material, is the authoritative description of what the token is and is not.
Acquire and hold A holder buys PSG on an exchange or through the Socios.com platform. Holdings are self-custodied in the Socios.com wallet or any Chiliz Chain compatible wallet.
Vote in club polls Holders can vote on official club decisions that are explicitly non-managerial, with voting power proportional to holdings. Poll subjects have historically included things like a captain's armband message rather than anything touching squad, strategy or corporate matters.
Unlock rewards and experiences Holding unlocks access to rewards such as matchday hospitality, signed merchandise, stadium tours, meet and greet opportunities and, in some campaigns, on-pitch experiences at the Parc des Princes.
Earn platform points Engaging with token features in the Socios.com application earns off-chain loyalty points, redeemable for further rewards.
Tokens are not consumed This mechanic is unusual and is stated explicitly in the white paper: when a holder uses a token functionality, the PSG used is not burned, consumed, transferred or surrendered. It stays with the user. The token is an eligibility credential, not a payment.
PSG is used for:
The white paper is equally clear about what the token does not provide. Holders acquire no right to any financial return or dividend, and no right to participate in voting on the management, corporate or strategic matters of Paris Saint-Germain, the offeror or any affiliate. The token grants no license and no intellectual property rights in the club or its affiliates. Under the European regulation it is classified as a crypto-asset other than an asset-referenced token or e-money token, and it does not qualify as a utility token under Article 3, because the goods and services it unlocks are not supplied exclusively by the issuer.
The honest answer is brand, not technology. The contract is a conventional token; what differentiates it is the licensed relationship with one of the most followed football clubs in the world and the platform that turns holdings into real-world access.
There are two genuinely unusual mechanical details worth knowing. First, a direct read of the Chiliz Chain contract at 0xc2661815C69c2B3924D3dd0c2C1358A1E38A3105 returns zero decimals, so on that chain the token is indivisible and quantities are whole units. A separate deployment on BNB Chain returns two decimals for the same name and symbol. Decimals differing between deployments of the same asset is a real operational hazard, and worth checking before any transfer or integration work.
Second, the documented overall supply of 19,890,000 PSG is a policy figure, not a property enforced by the code. The Chiliz Chain token is an upgradeable proxy, and the implementation it currently points at exposes mint, burn and pause functions. Supply is administered by the issuer. Treat "fixed supply" language for this asset accordingly.
Against a layer one token, the difference is total: PSG secures nothing, validates nothing and governs no protocol. Against other fan tokens, the differences are mostly which club and which campaigns, since the issuance model, chain and platform are shared across the category.
The comparison that matters most is against a season ticket or a membership scheme. A fan token behaves more like a tradable membership credential than like an equity or a protocol asset, with the caveat that its price moves on an open market while the benefits it unlocks are decided by the issuer and the club.
Settlement security comes from the Chiliz Chain, which the white paper describes as running a proof of staked authority consensus. Validators must stake CHZ and be approved by existing validators through on-chain governance, and validator seats are currently limited to 13, subject to that governance. The chain is documented as handling up to 400 transactions per second, with a minimum gas price of 2501 GWEI, and the system contracts covering staking, governance and upgrades are described as audited.
A validator set capped at 13 permissioned seats is considerably more concentrated than a large permissionless network. That is a deliberate choice for a consortium chain built around sports partners, and should be weighed as such rather than compared directly to Ethereum. Token-level control sits with the issuer, through the upgradeable proxy and the administrative functions described above.
PSG is the clearest example of a mainstream sports brand licensing itself into a token product, and its 2020 launch helped set the template dozens of clubs followed. For anyone assessing the fan token category it is the reference case: large audience, real utility delivered through an application, genuine club participation, and a rights structure far narrower than the marketing around the category suggests.
PSG is available on centralized exchanges and through the Socios.com platform. Availability varies by jurisdiction, and the Chiliz group has identified the European Economic Area, with Italy and Spain as principal European markets, as its primary audience alongside a global platform.

Because deployments on different chains use different decimal conventions, confirm the network and contract address before any transfer.
