What is the current price of Eclipse?
The current price of Eclipse is $0.0008048 with a 3.38% change in the last 24 hours.
Eclipse is an Ethereum-settled Layer 2 that runs the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) for execution and posts its data to Celestia. ES is the network's utility and governance token, with a fixed supply of 1 billion. Eclipse matters because it tests a specific bet: that developers want Solana-style parallel execution while settling to Ethereum and using ETH liquidity.
The Eclipse docs describe it as a high-performance, Ethereum-settled L2 combining Ethereum security, SVM parallelism and hardware/software co-design. Its execution environment began as a direct fork of Solana's open-source code, so Solana programs, wallets and tooling work with few changes.
ETH is the native gas asset on Eclipse Mainnet and arrives through the canonical bridge. The ES token was added later as a separate utility and governance asset (see below).
The ES MiCA white paper (linked from the official docs) names Eclipse OpCo Ltd, a Cayman Islands company wholly owned by the Eclipse Foundation, as the party seeking EU admission to trading. It says the Foundation entity was incorporated in January 2024 and has three independent directors.
According to that document:
The architectural overview splits the chain into layers:
Execution A permissioned set of sequencers orders and executes transactions using the SVM, which runs non-conflicting transactions in parallel.
Settlement State commitments are posted to an Ethereum contract (the Eclipse Gateway).
Data availability Block data goes to Celestia, chosen over Ethereum blobs for throughput and price.
Proving Eclipse is an optimistic rollup. Fraud proofs based on RISC Zero's Kailua are planned but not yet deployed.
Fees follow Solana's fee logic but are paid in ETH, with 1 micro-lamport interpreted as 1 kwei.
The MiCA white paper sets a fixed total supply of 1,000,000,000 ES and lists these functions:
The white paper states that ES confers no equity, dividend or profit rights. ES exists on Eclipse, Ethereum (0x6055Dc6Ff1077eebe5e6D2BA1a1f53d7Ef8430dE) and Solana.
Most Ethereum L2s run the EVM. Eclipse pairs the SVM with Ethereum settlement and Celestia data availability, mixing components from three ecosystems. Its longer-term GSVM work aims at co-designing the client with modern hardware, not only tuning software.
Eclipse's own security page is candid that it is at an early stage. It lists: no sequencer fallback, a single whitelisted proposer, no live fraud or validity proofs, upgradeable contracts without enforced delay, and a canonical bridge governed by a 3-of-5 multisig with committee-approved withdrawals and a 7-day delay. It states these assumptions place trust in Eclipse Labs and the multisig operators. Planned Stage 1 work includes Kailua fraud proofs, timelocks and permissionless exits. A bug bounty is listed on Immunefi.
Eclipse is the most prominent attempt to run Solana's execution model as an Ethereum L2. How it handles decentralization, bridge exits and adoption will inform whether mixed-ecosystem rollups become a common pattern.
ES trades on centralized exchanges and on decentralized exchanges on Eclipse, Ethereum and Solana. The MiCA white paper lists Bitvavo, Bybit, Kraken, Gate, KuCoin and Arkham as the platforms for which EU admission to trading was sought. The docs point to Nexus for bridging ES between chains.
On Eclipse, use an SVM wallet that supports the network, such as Backpack or Nightly. ES on Ethereum can be held in any ERC-20 wallet, and ES on Solana in Solana wallets. Hardware wallets add protection for larger balances.
