zkLink is a zero-knowledge rollup infrastructure project that aims to pull assets and liquidity from many blockchains into one execution environment. Its main live product, zkLink Nova, is an EVM-compatible Layer 3 that aggregates native assets from Ethereum and several Ethereum Layer 2s. ZKL is the protocol's utility and governance token, with a capped supply of 1 billion. The project matters because it targets a real pain point: liquidity split across dozens of separate rollups.
The zkLink whitepaper describes an "aggregated rollup infrastructure" secured by zero-knowledge proofs and multi-chain state synchronization. Instead of bridging tokens through third-party bridges, users deposit native assets through each chain's canonical rollup bridge, and zkLink's settlement layer keeps the state of all connected chains in sync.

The protocol has four layers: settlement, execution, sequencing and data availability.
Settlement zkLink offers two settlement designs. Nexus connects Ethereum and its L2s and finalizes multi-chain state through Ethereum. Origin can also connect alternative L1s, with different security assumptions.
Execution Nova uses the zkEVM from ZK Stack, so standard Solidity contracts deploy unchanged. zkLink X offers a Trading-Specific zkVM (TS-zkVM) built on custom circuits and RISC Zero for high-frequency trading.
Sequencing Nova's sequencer produces blocks every 2 seconds and batches them for proving. It is centralized today, and the docs name Espresso, Astria and Fairblock as possible decentralized options.
Data availability Nova currently runs in Validium mode with a Data Availability Committee, with external DA integration on the roadmap.

Most interoperability efforts unify rollups inside one stack, such as a single shared bridge. zkLink's pitch is stack-agnostic aggregation: Nova connects rollups built on different technologies and relies on their canonical bridges rather than third-party bridges.
Nova transactions are proven with zero-knowledge proofs and settled through Ethereum via the Nexus design, with sync hashes checked across host chains. The ZKL token contract (0xfc385a1df85660a7e041423db512f779070fcede) can be checked on Etherscan. Audits by ABDK are published. The docs acknowledge that the sequencer is centralized and that Validium mode relies on a committee for data availability.
As Ethereum scaling spreads across many rollups, fragmented liquidity has become a real cost. zkLink is one of the more direct attempts to aggregate those rollups at the settlement level, and its progress is a useful signal for multi-rollup interoperability.
