Cyber is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built on the OP Stack, and CYBER is the token used for staking, governance and access to the products built around it. The network is fully EVM compatible, so contracts and tooling written for Ethereum work on it with little change.
One detail matters before anything else: many listings still file this asset under its older name, CyberConnect, the decentralized social graph protocol the same team shipped in 2021 and 2022. The project rebranded to Cyber in May 2024 when it launched the Layer 2, and by 2026 the positioning had shifted again toward artificial intelligence, with the official site describing the network as "built for social, optimized for AI" alongside two AI products. Older coverage of "CyberConnect the social graph" is not a description of what this asset represents today.
A live check of the network in September 2026 returned chain ID 7560 from the public RPC endpoint, with blocks being produced normally.
Official sources:
The company behind Cyber was founded in 2021 and is associated with Wilson Wei, Ryan Li and Diego Alvarez, with Wilson Wei as chief executive. It started as CyberConnect, a protocol for portable social graphs, and added CyberWallet and the Link3 identity and events product over the following two years.
The CYBER token was distributed in August 2023 through a Binance Launchpool program. In May 2024 the team rebranded to Cyber, launched the Layer 2 on mainnet using the OP Stack together with AltLayer and infrastructure secured by EigenLayer, and spun Link3 out as a separate product.
The third shift came in 2026. The current product lineup is the Cyber network, Cyber.AI (a model trained on crypto-specific data) and Surf (an AI research and execution interface released in early access). At the same time the team published a notice that CyberWallet and Passkey Wallet were being retired, asking users to withdraw assets before August 15, 2026. Two repositionings and a wallet sunset inside three years is the single most important piece of context for anyone evaluating this asset.
Cyber runs as an optimistic rollup in the Optimism Superchain family. Transactions are executed on the Layer 2, batched, and posted to Ethereum, which remains the settlement and data availability anchor. Withdrawals back to Ethereum follow the standard OP Stack challenge window rather than settling instantly.
Gas on Cyber is paid in ETH, not in CYBER. The public chain registry lists Ether as the native currency of chain 7560, and the docs treat CYBER as a staking and governance asset rather than a gas asset. This is a meaningful difference from Layer 1 networks where the listed token pays for every transaction.
Staking happens on Cyber mainnet itself. Depositing CYBER into the Cyber Vault returns cCYBER, which is transferable and auto-compounds rewards; depositing into the staking pool returns stCYBER, which is non-transferable and does not auto-compound. Both carry a seven day unstaking period, though cCYBER holders can exit earlier by selling the receipt token. The documentation describes an initial pool of 5.5 million CYBER for staking incentives, with later annual amounts decided by governance.
CYBER is used for:
The token is deployed at the same address, 0x14778860E937f509e651192a90589dE711Fb88a9, on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Optimism, Base and Cyber itself, plus a separate Solana deployment.
The project documents a total and maximum supply of 100,000,000 CYBER. A direct read of the contracts in September 2026 gives useful nuance on how that figure is enforced.
The Ethereum deployment reports a total supply of exactly 100,000,000 tokens. The deployments on BNB Chain, Optimism and Cyber share identical bytecode, and that bytecode exposes an owner-controlled mint(address,uint256) function together with burn(uint256) and burnFrom(address,uint256). There is no cap() function in those contracts. On BNB Chain and Cyber the owner resolves to the same address, 0x9a9d5a29206dde4f70825032df32333de5f63921.
That is the expected shape for an omnichain token, where supply is minted and burned on each chain to mirror transfers rather than issued anew. The practical reading is that the 100 million figure is a policy commitment backed by control of the owner key and the bridge configuration, not a hard numeric ceiling written into the mirrored contracts.
Cyber is a general purpose rollup that has repeatedly picked a narrow thematic focus, first social primitives and then AI tooling, rather than competing on raw throughput or fee levels. Its infrastructure was assembled from modular pieces (OP Stack execution, AltLayer operations, EigenLayer-secured services) instead of a bespoke stack, which shortened time to mainnet but also means it inherits the limitations of those components. Compared with Optimism or Arbitrum it is far smaller and far more application-specific; compared with a single protocol such as Ethereum Name Service or Mask Network it owns an execution layer, which is a broader surface but a more expensive one to maintain.
Security rests on several layers. The rollup posts data to Ethereum and relies on Ethereum for settlement, so the base chain provides the strongest guarantee. Sequencing and operational infrastructure are supplied by third-party providers, with EigenLayer-secured services used for parts of the stack. Staked CYBER supports governance and network incentives rather than consensus in the Layer 1 sense.
As with most rollups in this class, the sequencer is not permissionless today, upgrade keys exist, and the bridge contracts on Ethereum are a concentrated point of risk. Treat published audits and the current state of the fault proof system as the material questions.
Cyber is a useful case study in what happens when an application-layer team decides it needs its own execution layer. Its 2021 social graph work was genuinely early, and the pivot to owning a rollup, then to AI tooling, tracks the last three years of crypto product cycles closely. The practical task for a reader is separating three things that share one ticker: an old social protocol, a live OP Stack chain, and a new AI product suite.
CYBER trades on a range of centralized exchanges, generally against major stablecoins, and on decentralized exchanges on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Optimism, Base and Cyber itself, since the same contract address is deployed across those networks. Liquidity depth varies sharply between venues, so check the specific pair before trading.
Because CYBER is an ERC-20 style token on several EVM chains, any standard EVM wallet works, including MetaMask, Rabby and hardware wallets such as Ledger and Trezor. Add the token by contract address and confirm the chain, since the identical address exists on five networks and sending to the wrong one can strand funds. Staking requires connecting to Cyber mainnet directly. The project's own CyberWallet and Passkey Wallet were retired in 2026, so ignore guides that reference them.
