BSquared Network, usually written B² Network, is a Bitcoin scaling stack built as two connected chains rather than one. B² Rollup is the EVM-compatible Layer 2 where applications run, and B² Hub sits beneath it as a consensus and data availability layer. B2 is the token of that stack.
The detail that trips people up is which token pays for what. On the B² Rollup, the network registered publicly as chain ID 223, the native gas currency is BTC, not B2. On B² Hub, chain ID 213, the native currency is B2. So B2 is the staking, governance, and data availability gas asset of the stack, while users transacting on the rollup itself pay fees in bitcoin. Both chains were checked live on September 11, 2026 and each returned a block produced within the same minute, so both are running.
Official sources:
B² Network emerged during the 2023 and 2024 wave of Bitcoin Layer 2 projects that followed renewed interest in building on Bitcoin after Ordinals and inscriptions drew attention back to the base chain. The project's public mainnet has been running since 2024 according to project communications, and the B2 token followed later, with native staking introduced alongside it.
The team has not published a detailed named founder roster in its own documentation, and the project is more commonly described by its backers than by its founders. It appears in portfolio listings associated with Animoca Brands and OKX Ventures. Treat any specific founder name you find in secondary sources as unverified unless the project publishes it directly.
The stated direction has broadened over time. Documentation now describes components beyond the original rollup, including a mining router, a BTC-collateralized stablecoin settlement layer, and an AI signal layer, reflecting a repositioning from a pure Bitcoin Layer 2 toward a wider modular and AI-oriented stack.
B² Rollup, the execution layer This is the EVM-compatible chain where contracts and applications live. Because it is EVM-compatible, Ethereum tooling and contracts generally port over. BTC is the gas asset here, which means using the network requires bitcoin rather than a separate utility token.
B² Hub, the layer beneath Documentation describes B² Hub as a consensus and data availability layer, operating with a proof of stake design, sitting between the rollup and Bitcoin. B2 is the gas token on this layer and the asset staked to secure it.
Commitment to Bitcoin The stack's technical design centers on committing rollup state and zero-knowledge proof verification data back to Bitcoin. Bitcoin does not natively verify general-purpose validity proofs, so anchoring designs of this kind rely on committing data and proof artifacts to Bitcoin and on a challenge or verification process rather than on Bitcoin executing a verifier itself. The exact trust assumptions are the part worth reading closely in primary documentation before treating the network as inheriting Bitcoin's security.
Staking and validation Users stake B2, or delegate it, to support validators securing the Hub, and documented tokenomics reserve a large allocation specifically for staking and validator rewards.
Documented current uses are:
Documented future uses include sequencer staking and staking across other rollups that settle to B² Hub.
Supply is one of the clearer cases in this set. Documentation states a total supply of 210,000,000 B2, and a direct read of the token contract on BNB Chain at 0x783c3f003f172c6ac5ac700218a357d2d66ee2a2 confirms it: the contract exposes a cap getter that returns exactly 210,000,000 tokens at 18 decimals, with the name "BSquared Token" and the symbol B2. That ceiling is enforced by the contract, not merely promised in a document.
Two further things the bytecode shows, and which honest coverage should mention. The contract includes a mint function gated by a minter role, and total supply when checked sat below the 210 million ceiling, so more tokens can still be issued up to the cap by whoever holds that role. The contract also includes real burn and burnFrom functions, so unlike many tokens that advertise burns without the capability, B2 supply genuinely can be reduced by a holder or an approved spender. The contract additionally supports pausing, and the paused flag read as false when checked, meaning transfers are currently enabled while a privileged role retains the ability to halt them.
Documented allocation is 24 percent ecosystem reserve, 20 percent staking rewards, 12 percent public distribution, 11 percent incentives for Bitcoin network participants, 10 percent investors, 10 percent team and advisors, 11 percent across airdrop and testnet campaigns, and 2 percent initial liquidity, with multi-year cliffs and linear release schedules on the investor, team, reserve, and staking tranches.
Charging gas in BTC on the execution layer is a real design choice rather than branding. A user bridging bitcoin in can transact without ever acquiring the project's own token, which removes the onboarding step that most Layer 2 networks impose. Separating the stack into a rollup and a Hub is the second distinguishing feature, because it lets the project offer the Hub as a settlement and data availability layer for other rollups rather than simply running one chain.
Security has several distinct layers, and conflating them is the most common mistake made about Bitcoin Layer 2s. Day-to-day liveness depends on the Hub's proof of stake validator set and on sequencer operation on the rollup. Longer-term settlement assurances depend on how state and proof data are committed back to Bitcoin and on who can challenge invalid state. Asset safety depends on bridge contracts, which is where most losses in this category have historically occurred. Token-level controls matter too: the minter role, the pause capability, and the addresses holding them are part of the practical security model.
Bitcoin holds an enormous amount of idle value and almost no native programmability. Every credible attempt to change that is worth understanding, and B² Network's approach of charging gas in BTC while separating execution from data availability is one of the more considered designs in the category. Whether the anchoring guarantees hold up under scrutiny is the question that decides whether this class of network becomes infrastructure or a footnote.
B2 is listed on centralized exchanges, most commonly as the BNB Chain token. Availability, pairs, and supported deposit networks vary by venue and jurisdiction, so confirm the network before moving funds.
B2 is often available on:
Common pairs include B2 quoted against USDT where supported.
B2 can be held:
Confirm the network carefully. B2 on BNB Chain, native B2 on B² Hub, and BTC used for gas on B² Rollup are different things, and mixing them up when bridging or withdrawing can cause permanent loss.
