Resolution criteria
- This market will resolve to "Yes" if, by December 31, 2026, the American Express (Amex) and Coinbase co-branded card is discontinued without a specified reason, or if there is verifiable evidence of the departure of an Amex executive who worked on the project.
- If brand tracking info (Qualtrics, Nielsen, etc) data becomes publicly available and a significant decline is attributable to this launch, that will weigh on the resolution, as well.
- In previous statements, Amex CEO Stephen Squeri has expressed skepticism about offering crypto-linked cards, viewing cryptocurrencies more as an asset class than a means of payment.
- (bloomberg.com) However, he has mentioned exploring ways for cardholders to redeem membership rewards points for cryptocurrencies.
