KAIO is an institutional real-world asset protocol: infrastructure for issuing regulated investment funds as on-chain tokens, enforcing who may hold them, and handling subscription, redemption and secondary transfer under compliance rules written into smart contracts. KAIO is its native token.
The name is generic enough to collide with unrelated things, so identify this asset by contract. The KAIO token is at 0x00bac91fd8f5b4a0dc03c8021139b76f6549ee7e on Ethereum mainnet. A live read of that contract on September 11, 2026 returned KAIO for both name() and symbol(), 18 decimals, and a total supply of exactly 10,000,000,000 tokens. Sites offering a KAIO presale or airdrop at other domains are not the project.
What distinguishes KAIO from most tokenization efforts is the quality of the funds already running on it: tokenized vehicles from BlackRock, Hamilton Lane, Brevan Howard, Mubadala Capital and Laser Digital, the digital asset arm of Nomura. This is not a protocol waiting for its first issuer.
Official sources:
KAIO is the current identity of Libre Capital, which rebranded on July 30, 2025 alongside the launch of a tokenized Laser Digital Bitcoin Diversified Yield Fund that had secured over 100 million dollars in capital commitments. The token itself is much younger than the platform: its token generation event took place in May 2026.
The company raised an 11 million dollar seed round led by Laser Digital and WebN Group, with participation from Karatage, Further Ventures, Lyrik Ventures and Brevan Howard Digital. In 2026 Tether invested a further 8 million dollars to help scale on-chain fund distribution.
The protocol is operated by Conduit Asset Management Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-incorporated firm licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. That regulated entity is central to the design rather than incidental: the model depends on a licensed party acting as fund administrator and gatekeeper.
KAIO's documentation names Ethereum mainnet as the execution and settlement layer. All registries, rules and order book logic are deployed on-chain rather than on a permissioned side network, which the project argues is what gives the arrangement transparency and finality. The system is organized around four participant types and three contract families.
Participants An Investor holds and trades tokenized fund shares. A Dealer distributes to its own investor base. A Fund Admin manages an instrument. A KAIO Admin sets platform-wide rules.
Registries A Roles Registry handles access control and a Jurisdiction Registry encodes per-country requirements, while Investor, Dealer, Fund and Instrument registries record who and what is approved. Compliance is therefore on-chain state, not an off-chain spreadsheet consulted after the fact.
Rules engine and order books Rule modules attach at three levels: platform-wide modules set by the KAIO Admin, dealer modules scoped to a dealer's investors, and instrument modules managed by a fund admin. A subscription book and a redemption book handle the primary flows, with a fee module alongside them.
Two token types move through this. A single settlement token pays in and out. A separate security token exists for each instrument, following the ERC-20 interface with 18 decimals, priced off the underlying fund's net asset value, with custom logic restricting who may send and receive. An investor subscribes with settlement tokens to receive security tokens, and later redeems in the opposite direction.
For reach beyond Ethereum, the KAIO Gateway bridges to both EVM and non-EVM chains. The project lists Base, Solana, Sui, Sei, Injective and TON among the networks it supports for distribution, and the Hamilton Lane private credit product has been tokenized on Sei.
KAIO is described as the protocol's utility and governance asset: paying protocol service fees, supporting the operational logic of managing fund structures on-chain, and giving holders a voice over the foundation's treasury, ecosystem incentives and the direction of the infrastructure.
It is worth flagging a documentation gap. KAIO's developer documentation covers products, registries, rules, order books, tokens, security and operations in detail, but contains no tokenomics or token utility specification, and the community section links only to an airdrop page. Descriptions of KAIO token mechanics therefore come from announcements and secondary coverage rather than a protocol spec, and are less firmly established than the platform architecture.
One mechanical property is firmly established because it is readable on-chain: the token implements ERC20Votes, including delegation and historical vote lookups, so governance with delegated voting power is supported at the contract level whatever the current process happens to be.
Most real-world asset protocols start with the technology and hunt for assets. KAIO started from the opposite end: a licensed fund administration business with real managers on it, then wrapped in on-chain infrastructure. The compliance machinery is the product rather than an afterthought bolted on for a regulator. The second distinguishing choice is settling on Ethereum mainnet rather than a permissioned chain, while using a gateway for distribution elsewhere. Plenty of institutional projects take the opposite path, arguing a private chain is easier to control; KAIO's documentation argues public settlement is what makes compliance verifiable at all.
Against Ondo, KAIO focuses less on issuing its own yield products and more on being the issuance and distribution rail that outside managers use for theirs.
Against Centrifuge and Maple, which grew out of on-chain credit, KAIO comes from traditional fund administration, and its instrument set reflects that: money market portfolios, hedge fund strategies, private credit and private equity rather than crypto-native lending pools. Against permissioned enterprise chains, it is unusual for putting its compliance registries and rule modules on a public Layer 1 where anyone can inspect them.
The protocol inherits Ethereum settlement, and the project publishes operational documentation covering Web2 components, blockchain infrastructure, smart contract security, monitoring, availability and disaster recovery, a fuller posture than most protocols of this size document publicly.
The token contract is the part a holder can verify directly, and it checks out well. A live inspection of its function set on September 11, 2026 found a standard OpenZeppelin ERC-20 extended with Permit, Votes and Burnable: transfers, approvals, EIP-2612 permit, delegation and checkpointed vote lookups, plus burn and burnFrom.
What is absent matters more. There is no mint, no owner, no pausing and no proxy: the contract exposes no implementation slot, no upgradeTo and no proxiableUUID. The 10,000,000,000 total supply was created at deployment, cannot be increased by anyone, and the logic cannot be swapped out. Supply can only move downward, and only when a holder voluntarily burns. That is a genuinely fixed, immutable, ownerless token, which is rarer than the phrase "fixed supply" usually suggests. None of this applies to the tokenized fund contracts, which are deliberately permissioned: an admin can change a security token's name and symbol, and transfer eligibility is enforced by rule modules. That is necessary for regulated instruments, but it is a different trust model.
The real-world asset category has no shortage of protocols with elegant architecture and no assets. KAIO is on the other side of that line: managers with genuine institutional standing have issued products through it, and the compliance layer that makes that possible is deployed on a public chain where it can be read. Whether the token captures that is a separate question, but as a working example of regulated fund distribution on Ethereum it is one of the more substantive references available.
KAIO listed on centralized exchanges following its May 2026 token generation event, and also trades on decentralized exchanges on Ethereum. Availability and trading pairs vary by jurisdiction.

Add the token by pasting 0x00bac91fd8f5b4a0dc03c8021139b76f6549ee7e rather than searching by ticker. Accessing tokenized funds on the platform is a separate process requiring investor onboarding, since eligibility is enforced on-chain by the registries.
