Polkastarter is a decentralized fundraising platform, usually described as a launchpad, where early-stage crypto projects sell tokens to retail participants through fixed-swap pools. A fixed-swap pool sells a defined quantity of tokens at a price that does not move as the pool fills, so buyers know the price and the project knows the maximum raise before the sale opens.
POLS is the platform's ERC-20 token. Its function is access rather than fee payment: holding or staking POLS produces a score called POLS Power, which determines a participant's chances of being allowlisted for a sale. A direct contract read on September 12, 2026 returned name "PolkastarterToken", symbol "POLS" and 18 decimals for the Ethereum contract at 0x83e6f1E41cdd28eAcEB20Cb649155049Fac3D5Aa.
Official sources:
Polkastarter was started in the last quarter of 2020 by Daniel Stockhaus, Tiago Martins and Miguel Leite. The name is a leftover from the original plan: the team intended to build on Polkadot and pivoted to Ethereum at the last minute, keeping the brand.
In September 2020 the founders raised 875,000 US dollars from industry investors for product development and launched the POLS token shortly after. The token contract was deployed on Ethereum on September 28, 2020 at 22:46 UTC in block 10,953,732, with the public launch dated September 29, 2020.
The platform expanded beyond token sales in the following years, adding an NFT sales product in 2021 and the Polkastarter Gaming Guild late that same year. The documentation records the largest single raise as a 3 million dollar NFT land sale in March 2022.
Fixed-swap pools A project deposits a fixed quantity of tokens and sets a price in a chosen quote asset. The price holds until the allocated supply is exhausted, so there is no bonding curve and no bidding war. Both the amount raised and the number of tokens sold are known up front.
Allowlisting and KYC Participation is gated. Users complete identity verification and apply to a sale, and the platform builds an allowlist of eligible addresses with individual maximum allocations. That keeps automated bots from absorbing an entire sale, and keeps gas costs low because eligibility is resolved off-chain.
POLS Power and the lottery Access is not first come, first served. POLS Power is computed from a user's eligible POLS balance, counting both tokens held in the wallet and tokens staked in the platform's contract. The documented mechanic awards one lottery ticket per 250 POLS, with addresses drawn at random from the applicant pool. Five tiers increase the value of each ticket by up to 25 percent, and the documented top tier at 30,000 POLS and above grants "No Cooldown" status, exempting the holder from the seven-day wait between participations, subject to passing KYC.
Tokens held in a wallet must sit unmoved for seven days before they count toward POLS Power. Staked tokens count immediately and unlock access to open applications, but are locked on-chain for seven days before withdrawal. Staking is documented on Ethereum and BNB Chain.
POLS has a narrow and specific job. Its documented uses are:
POLS is not a governance token, is not burned by protocol activity, and does not entitle holders to a share of platform fees. Treat it as an access credential whose value depends on how attractive the sales pipeline is at a given time.
The fixed-swap design solves a specific problem cleanly. In an AMM launch the earliest buyer captures most of the upside and everyone later pays a worse price, whereas a fixed-swap pool gives the same price to every buyer until the supply runs out, producing the wider distribution of holders a new project actually wants.
Against tier-guarantee launchpads, where a fixed stake buys a guaranteed allocation, Polkastarter's lottery spreads allocations more widely but gives no certainty to any individual. Larger stakes improve odds and ticket weight rather than purchasing a slot outright.
Against exchange launchpads run by centralized venues, Polkastarter is self-custody throughout and does not require a balance on an exchange, but it cannot offer the immediate listing liquidity an exchange provides. Against permissionless bonding-curve or fair-launch platforms, it is deliberately gated: KYC and allowlists exclude some users by jurisdiction, and that is the explicit design choice that keeps bots and sybil addresses out.
POLS is an ERC-20 on Ethereum and inherits Ethereum's proof-of-stake settlement. Contract-level facts, read live on September 12, 2026:
cap() returns 100,000,000 tokens at 18 decimals, and totalSupply() returns exactly the same value. The supply is fully minted and hard-capped, and the deployed bytecode exposes no mint entrypoint.pause, unpause and paused, and paused() returned false.owner() returns a non-zero address, so administrative control has not been renounced. The retained powers visible in the bytecode are pausing transfers, transferring ownership and setting a distribution contract; there is no mint, no burn and no blacklist function. The pause capability is worth understanding rather than fearing. It is a legitimate emergency control from a 2020-era token design, but it does mean an administrator could halt transfers, and holders should price that in.
A representation of POLS also exists on BNB Chain at 0x7e624FA0E1c4AbFD309cC15719b7E2580887f570, with its own separate supply on that chain.
Polkastarter is one of the reference implementations of decentralized primary issuance. The fixed-swap pool plus allowlist pattern it popularized became standard across launchpads, and the problems it addressed, bot capture and a handful of addresses taking an entire sale, remain unsolved on permissionless launch venues. It has also operated across several market cycles, including periods when most launchpads of its cohort stopped running sales entirely.
POLS trades on decentralized exchanges on Ethereum and BNB Chain, and on a range of centralized venues. When buying on a DEX, confirm the contract address matches the Ethereum one above, or the BNB Chain address if trading there, since the two are separate assets on separate networks.
POLS has a broad centralized listing history across major and mid-sized international exchanges. Availability, supported networks and pairs differ by venue and jurisdiction, so check the exchange's own asset page and confirm the deposit network before transferring.
POLS is a standard ERC-20, so any Ethereum-compatible wallet holds it, and any BNB Chain-compatible wallet holds the BNB Chain version. MetaMask, Rabby and similar software wallets are convenient for staking through the platform dashboard, with a Ledger or Trezor behind them for larger balances. Note that POLS Power requires tokens to remain unmoved in a wallet for seven days, or to be staked with a seven-day unlock, so plan transfers accordingly.
