Resolution criteria
- This market will resolve to the first player officially appointed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as the next permanent, full-time captain of the England Men's Test cricket team, succeeding Ben Stokes.
- Interim / Stand-in Captains: If a player captains a Test match or series in a temporary, caretaker, or interim capacity (for instance, due to a suspension, injury, or transitional period), this will not trigger a YES resolution for that player unless the ECB officially designates them as the permanent captain.
- The official announcement published on the ECB Official Website or reported by major sports news outlets (such as ESPNcricinfo or BBC Sport) will serve as the source of truth.
- Ben Stokes has served as England's Test captain since succeeding Joe Root in May 2022.
- In June 2026, Stokes' future as captain was thrown into doubt following an ECB and Cricket Regulator investigation into an off-field nightclub incident in London, with reports indicating he may step down or retire from Test cricket.
