XT is the token of XT.com, a centralized cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2018 and registered in the Seychelles. Like most exchange tokens, it earns its value from the platform rather than from a protocol: holders get reduced trading fees, access to platform promotions and launch events, and a say in some platform decisions.
XT is unusual among exchange tokens in that it exists in two distinct forms. On Ethereum it is a standard ERC-20 with 18 decimals at 0x4Be10dA47A07716af28aD199FBE020501BdDd7AF, and a direct contract read confirms the name XT Token, the symbol XT, and a total supply of exactly 100,000,000 units. On XT Smart Chain, a separate EVM network the company launched, XT is also the native gas asset.
Official sources:
XT.com launched in 2018 and has been publicly associated with founders Weber Woo and Ada Too, though reporting indicates neither remains with the company; the exchange does not prominently publish current leadership, so treat founder attribution as historical rather than current. The company is registered in the Seychelles, a jurisdiction common among exchanges that serve a global user base without a single primary regulator.
The token came first and the chain came later. XT was issued as an ERC-20 with a fixed one hundred million supply and a fee-discount model familiar from other exchange tokens of that era. XT Smart Chain, marketed as XSC, arrived afterward as an EVM compatible network with XT as its gas asset, positioned as a low-cost venue for projects in the exchange's orbit.
The exchange's most significant public incident came in November 2024, when XT.com suspended withdrawals after an exploit of roughly 1.7 million dollars. The company stated that the affected assets came from platform reserves rather than customer balances and subsequently announced a Merkle tree proof-of-reserves program.
There are two systems to understand, and they are only loosely coupled.
The exchange XT.com operates a conventional centralized order book with spot, futures, and margin markets, plus over-the-counter and card purchase routes. Its public market data endpoint currently lists over a thousand trading symbols, the large majority of them active, including XT quoted against both USDT and BTC. The exchange is the part of the business that actually generates the fee revenue XT holders are discounting.
XT Smart Chain XSC is an EVM compatible chain using a delegated, validator-based consensus that the project describes as HPoS. A direct query to its public RPC endpoint returns chain identifier 520, and its native currency is XT with 18 decimals. Block production is fast and regular, with intervals of roughly three seconds, and blocks carry the difficulty value characteristic of a proof-of-staked-authority validator rotation rather than mining.
The honest caveat is that the chain and the exchange are not in the same condition. Marketing material for XSC describes throughput above three thousand transactions per second, a total value locked in the tens of millions, and more than ten core applications. A direct sample of 400 consecutive recent blocks taken from the chain's own public RPC endpoint in September 2026 contained zero transactions. The chain is alive in the sense that validators keep producing blocks; it is not carrying user activity. Anyone evaluating XSC as a deployment target should verify current usage themselves rather than rely on published figures.
Documented uses of XT are:
Supply is capped. The Ethereum contract holds a fixed one hundred million XT and, unlike many exchange tokens, XT.com has not built its narrative around a recurring buyback and burn schedule. The exchange's own materials also reference a transaction tax introduced in 2018; check current documentation before assuming any transfer fee applies today, since such mechanics are often changed or retired without a formal announcement.
XT's distinguishing feature is the dual role: a fee-discount exchange token that is simultaneously the gas asset of a chain the same company runs. Most exchange tokens do one or the other. That design gives XT a second demand channel on paper, though as noted above the chain side of that channel is currently generating very little transaction demand.
The two components have very different security models. The ERC-20 form of XT inherits Ethereum's security like any other token contract; custody risk sits with whoever holds the keys. XT Smart Chain is secured by a permissioned-style validator set under its HPoS consensus, which is faster and cheaper than mining but concentrates trust in a small group of validators. A chain with almost no transaction load also has almost no economic incentive keeping an independent validator set honest, which is a structural weakness worth naming plainly.
The largest practical security question for XT holders is the exchange itself. Balances held on XT.com are custodial and depend on the operator's internal controls. The November 2024 exploit and the subsequent proof-of-reserves program are the relevant public data points, and proof of reserves without a corresponding, independently verified statement of liabilities does not establish solvency.
XT is a useful case study in what an exchange token actually is: a discount coupon whose value is set by the volume, longevity, and trustworthiness of a single operator. The attached chain adds an interesting second dimension, and it also illustrates how far exchange-launched chains can drift from their announced roadmaps once the initial incentive programs end.
XT is traded primarily on XT.com itself, against both USDT and BTC. External availability is limited compared with the tokens of larger exchanges, and access varies by jurisdiction.
XT is available on:
Before withdrawing, confirm which network a venue uses, since XT exists both as an Ethereum ERC-20 and as the native asset of XT Smart Chain.
After purchase, XT can be held:
Because the two forms share a ticker but not a network, always select the withdrawal network explicitly and send a small test transfer first. Given the platform's incident history, holding long-term balances in self custody rather than on the exchange is the more conservative choice.
