Toko Token (TKO) is the utility token of Tokocrypto, an Indonesian cryptocurrency exchange. TKO gives holders trading fee discounts, access to exchange campaigns such as Launchdrop and TKO Megadrop, and a way into DeFi products on BNB Chain. It matters because it is an exchange token built around a single national market, and it reached a global audience through a token sale on Binance Launchpad in 2021.
Tokocrypto is an Indonesian crypto exchange that its homepage describes as supervised by OJK, Indonesia's Financial Services Authority, and registered with Indonesian government ministries. TKO is the exchange's ecosystem token, issued as a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain.
The official TKO site groups its uses into two areas: CeFi benefits on exchanges (fee discounts, Launchdrop, TKO Megadrop and exclusive campaigns) and DeFi benefits through integrations with decentralized finance protocols.
According to the Binance Research profile, Tokocrypto was founded in 2018. At the time of the token launch, the team listed was Pang Xue Kai (Founder and CEO), Teguh Kurniawan Harmanda (COO), Lai Chung Ying (CSO) and Nanda Ivens (CMO). TKO is a standard BEP-20 token. Those tokens serve global exchanges and, in several cases, their own chains; TKO serves a single national market and runs on BNB Chain rather than a proprietary network.
As a BEP-20 token, TKO relies on BNB Chain for transaction security. TKO held on an exchange is secured by that exchange's custody; Tokocrypto's homepage displays ISO 27001 and ISO 27010 certifications for information security.
