ThunderCore was an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain, and TT (Thunder Token) was its native currency, used to pay for gas. The key fact today: the ThunderCore mainnet has stopped producing blocks, and TT has moved to BNB Smart Chain as a BEP-20 token. The official migration window for users runs from September 1, 2026 to December 1, 2026, so anyone who held TT on the old network needs to check the migration steps.
ThunderCore was built as a high-throughput public blockchain that could run Ethereum smart contracts with low fees. It used a consensus protocol called PaLa and was aimed at consumer applications, especially games. TT paid for transactions on the chain.
Following a community proposal, the team retired the independent Layer 1 and moved TT to BNB Smart Chain. TT now lives at the BEP-20 contract 0x990e7154bb999faa9b2fa5ed29e822703311ea85. An older ERC-20 version of TT on Ethereum (0x1e053d89e08c24aa2ce5c5b4206744dc2d7bd8f5) is also listed in project records; its status after the migration is not described on the pages reviewed.
The project has described itself as founded in 2017 in Silicon Valley by Chris Wang together with researchers and engineers. Its public materials list investors including DragonFly Capital and Pantera Capital.
Recent history, from official ThunderCore news posts:
236120709, and the migration site went live.On the original chain, the team presented PaLa as a consensus protocol offering high throughput and sub-second confirmations (a proof-of-concept is published on the project's GitHub as pala-poc), and the network ran the Ethereum Virtual Machine so Solidity contracts and Ethereum tools worked with little change.
After the migration, TT works like any other BEP-20 token on BNB Smart Chain. Per the migration guide, eligible TT balances were moved by automatic migration to the same address on BNB Smart Chain. Other eligible assets are claimed through the migration site: users connect the wallet that held ThunderCore assets, sign a verification message, and submit a migration transaction on Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, paying gas in ETH or BNB. The deadline for manual migration is December 1, 2026.
On the original network, TT was the native currency that paid gas fees. After the move to BNB Smart Chain, gas is paid in BNB, so TT's remaining role is as a transferable token held by the community and traded on exchanges. The proposal called for ending new TT issuance and capping the maximum supply.
ThunderCore is now unusual for a different reason: it is one of the few Layer 1 projects to retire its own chain in a planned, documented way while keeping its token alive on another network. It published a final block number, an asset migration site with a fixed window, exchange coordination updates and a third-party audit of the new token contract.
Historically, ThunderCore described its dApps as leading in the gaming and gambling categories, apps that benefit from cheap, fast transactions. Today the uses are narrower: holding and trading BEP-20 TT, and completing the migration of assets left on the retired chain.
BEP-20 TT is secured by BNB Smart Chain. According to ThunderCore, the CertiK audit of BEP-20 TT verified that the contract's ownership has been renounced, meaning no privileged party can mint tokens, burn from holders, freeze the token or upgrade its implementation. The team also warns about phishing sites and asks users never to share private keys or seed phrases.
ThunderCore shows what an orderly end of a Layer 1 can look like: a public proposal, a final block, a migration window and a token that continues on a larger network. It is a useful case study for anyone holding tokens of smaller chains.
BEP-20 TT trades on centralized exchanges and may have liquidity on decentralized exchanges on BNB Smart Chain. According to ThunderCore's exchange status update, HTX and Gate have confirmed BEP-20 TT deposit and withdrawal support. Always confirm that a venue supports the BNB Smart Chain version.
