LTO Network was a hybrid blockchain focused on identities, ownership and verifiable data, best known for "anchoring" document hashes on-chain so records could be proven untampered. In 2025 the project wound down its own Layer 1 and moved to Base, an Ethereum Layer 2, swapping the LTO token 1:1 for a new ERC-20 token called EQTY. Today the project continues under the EQTY name as open source infrastructure for real-world asset (RWA) ownership and tokenization.
This page covers both halves of that story: how the original LTO Network worked, and what its successor EQTY does now.
The LTO Network era LTO Network ran its own public chain alongside a private layer for business data. Its documentation describes it as "a hybrid blockchain, with a focus on identities and ownership", secured by Leased Proof of Stake.
Migration to Base The LTO documentation now opens with a notice that "LTO Network is shutting down" and points readers to the migration to Base with EQTY. Holders could swap LTO mainnet tokens, as well as wrapped ERC-20 and BEP-20 LTO, for EQTY on Base at a 1:1 ratio with no fees. The swap window ran from September 1 to October 31, 2025, and the docs state it has closed.
EQTY today The successor site, eqty.me, lists the foundation behind the project as Stichting EQTY, a Dutch foundation (KvK registration 99225344), and publishes its code under the eqty-dao GitHub organization. Individual founders are not named on the current site.
The original design had two layers:
Under EQTY the architecture changed. According to the EQTY Litepaper, anchoring and attestations are now written as events on Base instead of a proprietary ledger. A TypeScript private layer manages "Ownables", each update produces a signed event, and proofs of those events are anchored to Base.
Ownables Digital containers for an asset's private records (title deeds, contracts, insurance, legal events) that travel with the asset when it is transferred.
LetsFlow A workflow engine that models legal procedures such as registration and ownership transfer as event-driven steps, each producing an anchored proof.
Tokenized vaults ERC-4626 vaults that take an asset NFT and issue ERC-20 shares representing fractional ownership, with soft caps, hard caps and refunds if a raise fails.
GoLand An open source land registry project listed on the EQTY site.
EQTY Platform A managed suite that combines Ownables and tokenization for enterprises.
LTO was used for transaction fees and for staking or leasing to nodes on the old chain. EQTY, its replacement on Base (contract 0xc71f37d9bf4c5d1e7fe4bccb97e6f30b11b37d29), works differently. The litepaper describes a burn-for-fee model rather than staking rewards:
Its focus has always been legal-grade proof rather than pure token issuance. The EQTY litepaper argues that many RWA platforms "tokenize claims, not ownership" and positions EQTY around independent attestations from notaries, appraisers or legal entities, private ownership dossiers, and legal wrappers that make token-holder votes enforceable through custodians.
LTO originally competed as its own Layer 1, alongside enterprise data chains such as VeChain and Constellation. By moving to Base, EQTY gave up running its own validator set and instead relies on Ethereum Layer 2 security, similar in spirit to RWA protocols like Centrifuge and Ondo that build on existing chains. Its differentiator versus those is the emphasis on verifiable legal documents and workflows rather than on yield-bearing financial products.
The legacy chain was secured by Leased Proof of Stake validators. EQTY now inherits security from Base, which settles to Ethereum. Anchored proofs are hashes, so the underlying private data is not published on-chain; only the holder can decrypt an Ownable's contents, according to the litepaper.
LTO Network is an example of a long-running Layer 1 choosing to consolidate onto an Ethereum Layer 2 instead of maintaining its own chain. Its successor targets one of the harder problems in RWA tokenization: proving that a token actually corresponds to enforceable ownership.
Exchanges that supported the migration converted LTO balances to EQTY, and the project now trades as EQTY. EQTY trades on decentralized venues on Base and may also be listed on centralized exchanges; confirm any listing on the exchange's own site and verify the Base contract address on BaseScan before trading.
EQTY is an ERC-20 token on Base, so it can be held in any wallet that supports Base, such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or Rabby, or in a hardware wallet connected through one of them. The legacy swap instructions remain in the LTO documentation.
