Just a chill guy, ticker CHILLGUY, is a memecoin on Solana built around a widely shared cartoon of a relaxed anthropomorphic dog. It is exactly what that description suggests: a token whose entire premise is a piece of internet culture, with no protocol, no revenue, and no product behind it.
That is not a criticism, it is the accurate frame. CHILLGUY claims no utility, and this page does not invent any. What it does have is an unusually well-documented origin, a verifiable token account on Solana, and a copyright dispute with the artist who drew the character, which is a genuinely unusual risk factor for a crypto asset and the single most important thing to understand before reading anything else about it.
Verifiable on-chain identity, read from Solana mainnet on 11 September 2026:
Sources:
The character and the token have different authors, and conflating them is the most common error in write-ups about this asset.
The artwork was created by an illustrator who posts as Phillip Banks, who published the drawing on 4 October 2023 with a caption introducing it as a new character whose whole deal is that he is a chill guy. The image spread slowly for months, then went widely viral through TikTok from 30 August 2024, with one edit passing several million views in early September 2024.
The token was launched separately on Solana on 15 November 2024 by anonymous creators, without the artist's permission. The mint address ends in the suffix used by the pump.fun launchpad, which is consistent with a launchpad deployment rather than a bespoke contract.
On 21 November 2024 Banks stated publicly that he had copyrighted the artwork and would issue takedowns against for-profit uses, naming unauthorized merchandise and coins specifically, and said he does not and never will endorse crypto projects involving his work. He was then doxxed and harassed heavily enough that he deactivated his account. A later claim circulating online that Banks had struck a deal with a crypto project was denied, and he said the account making it had been compromised.
There is no identified development team today. The project is run as a community takeover, signposted as such on the community site and its associated social accounts, which means there is no accountable party with a roadmap or a treasury obligation.
Mechanically, CHILLGUY is one of the simplest assets you can hold. It is a standard SPL token on Solana with no custom program logic, no tax on transfers, no rebasing, and no staking contract. Holding, sending, and swapping it works exactly as it does for any other SPL token.
Two properties of the mint account are worth stating plainly because they are the only hard guarantees this asset offers:
The mint authority is null. Nobody can issue new CHILLGUY. Supply cannot be inflated by a deployer key, which removes one of the most common rug mechanics.
The freeze authority is null. Nobody can freeze an individual holder's token account. Your balance cannot be locked by the issuer.
Supply can still decrease, because the SPL Token program lets any holder burn tokens they own, and that burn genuinely reduces the recorded supply. Note the distinction that catches people out elsewhere: sending tokens to a dead or burn-styled wallet address does not reduce supply, it only moves the balance. Only the burn instruction does.
There is no protocol stack here, so the honest version of this section is a list of where the token actually lives:
CHILLGUY has no protocol utility, and the project does not claim any. There is no staking, no fee share, no governance, no burn mechanism funded by revenue, and no application that requires the token.
What it offers instead is:
Treat any claim that CHILLGUY has utility, yield, or a product roadmap with skepticism, and check it against the mint account and the chain before believing it.
Two things separate CHILLGUY from the enormous field of Solana memecoins.
The first is the strength of the underlying meme. The character reached genuine mainstream circulation on short-form video before the token existed, which is a different sequence from the usual pattern of a coin manufacturing its own meme.
The second is the copyright conflict, which is nearly unique in this category. Most memecoins borrow imagery from sources that never respond. Here the artist responded directly, registered the work, publicly disowned the token, and said he would pursue takedowns. That gives the asset an unusual legal shadow and also, oddly, a documented history that most memecoins lack entirely.
Against dog-themed memecoins built on Ethereum, CHILLGUY is a Solana asset with launchpad-style origins, which means low fees, fast settlement, and a much shorter deployment history.
Against memecoins with an official team, CHILLGUY has none. Community takeover projects have no treasury obligations, no vesting to disclose, and no party that can be held to a promise, which cuts both ways.
Against memecoins whose imagery is original or public domain, CHILLGUY's imagery is claimed by a named living artist who has publicly opposed its use, which is a materially different position for merchandise, brand partnerships, and any future commercialization attempt.
Against tokens that keep a mint authority, CHILLGUY cannot be inflated. That is a real structural advantage over a large share of launchpad tokens.
There is no productive use case, and presenting one would be dishonest.
Security for CHILLGUY is inherited, not built.
The token relies entirely on Solana's proof-of-stake consensus and on the audited, widely used SPL Token program. There is no custom program, which removes a whole category of bug risk that bespoke token contracts carry.
The token-specific protections are the two revoked authorities described above, and both can be verified independently in seconds by querying the mint account. That is the correct way to check this asset: do not trust a claim that authorities are revoked, read the mint.
What is not secured is everything social. Impersonation accounts, fake community sites, and copycat mints with similar names are common for any popular memecoin. The mint address is the only reliable identifier.
CHILLGUY is a useful case study even for readers who would never buy it. It shows how quickly a short-form video trend can be financialized by anonymous parties, how little recourse a creator has once that happens, and how completely a token's fortunes can be tied to one person's public statement. It also demonstrates the small set of on-chain facts that actually matter for a memecoin: the mint address, the mint authority, the freeze authority, and nothing else. If more readers checked those four things, a large share of memecoin losses would not happen.
CHILLGUY trades on Solana decentralized exchanges and aggregators, and on a broad set of centralized exchanges. Because the token has no official issuer, verify the mint address before any decentralized swap rather than relying on a ticker search. Availability varies by jurisdiction.
CHILLGUY is commonly available on:
Pairs are typically quoted against USDT where supported.
After purchase, CHILLGUY can be held:
Solana requires a small SOL balance for transaction fees and for the rent that holds a token account open, so keep some SOL available. Confirm the mint address matches the one above before accepting any deposit or performing a swap.
