Kamino Finance is an open source credit and liquidity protocol on Solana that combines lending, automated concentrated liquidity, and leveraged yield strategies in one suite. Users supply assets to earn interest, borrow against collateral, deposit into curated lending vaults, or run leveraged positions through Multiply. KMNO is the native token, launched via a genesis event on April 30, 2024, and the first product went live in August 2022.

Kamino's own governance announcements identify Marius Ciubotariu as a co-founder. The documentation covers products and security rather than team biography, and no full founder roster is published. The timeline is clear: liquidity vaults launched in August 2022, the lending market followed, and the token launched on April 30, 2024.

How Kamino Finance Works

The lending market, known as Kamino Borrow or K-Lend, uses a peer-to-pool model. Depositors add assets to shared reserves and earn interest, while borrowers take overcollateralized loans against posted collateral, with no counterparty matching and no credit check. Rates follow utilization curves, and unhealthy positions are liquidated with a documented penalty.

Liquidity vaults sit on the other side, managing concentrated liquidity on Solana DEX pools with automatic swapping, compounding and rebalancing, and issuing kTokens to depositors. Those kTokens are accepted as collateral in the lending market, enabling leveraged and delta-neutral liquidity strategies inside one protocol.
