The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) plans to implement the Eco - a single currency that would be accepted by all its member countries - by 2027.
- The initiative aims at boosting cross-border trade and economic development, but the plan has been delayed three times.
- The alternative containing the year in which the Eco starts to be used in the ECOWAS will be the winning outcome of this market.
- In case ECOWAS does not create and start circulating the Eco by the end of 2027, this market will be resolved as “the named outcome”.
- The same will happen if, before that, ECOWAS officially announces that the currency will no longer be created by the end of 2027.
