Resolution criteria
- This market resolves to YES if, at any time on or before December 31, 2027 (11:59 PM ET), a formal document filed in a United States federal court (e.g., District Court, Court of Appeals, or Supreme Court) BY THE US GOVERNMENT explicitly alleges or states as fact that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is a biological sibling (full- or half-brother) of Representative Ilhan Omar.
- Allegations that Representative Ilhan Omar married her biological brother, British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to facilitate immigration benefits have circulated in conservative media and political forums since her 2016 campaign.
- Omar has consistently and forcefully denied the claim, characterizing it as a baseless conspiracy theory.
- Scrutiny resurfaced following federal investigative activity into her background and naturalization history, including reported search warrants and subpoenas, as well as DOJ filings referencing her past legal names.
- While public reporting has frequently discussed the brother-marriage allegations, federal prosecutors and civil litigants have not historically formalized an explicit biological relationship claim in an unsealed federal indictment or complaint.
