On the 15th of July 2026 the following fact sheet was published by the Office of the United States Trade Representative:
- Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) concludes its Section 301 Investigation of Brazil’s Unreasonable Acts, Policies, and Practices by imposing a 25% tariff on certain imports from Brazil.
- This action follows a year-long investigation into Brazil that determined Brazil’s acts, policies, and practices to be unreasonable and burden or restrict U.S. commerce pursuant to Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974.
- Will this be successfully challenged in court?
- If the tax is removed by the Trump administration before legal challenges resolve, then the market will resolve NA.
