What Is NEXPACE (NXPC)?

NEXPACE is the company and the token behind MapleStory Universe, a blockchain extension of the MapleStory MMORPG franchise. It runs its own Layer 1 chain, Henesys, built with AvaCloud on Avalanche technology, where in-game items are NFTs with capped supply and player transactions are designed to be gasless. NXPC pays fees on Henesys, backs the in-game currency, and converts into and out of item bundles through a module called the Reactor. NEXPACE is an Abu Dhabi-based affiliate of the publisher Nexon.

Who Founded NEXPACE? (History)

NEXPACE is a corporate venture, an affiliate of Nexon, which has published MapleStory since 2003. The executives leading it are not named in the project's own documentation, so any individual attribution should be treated as unverified.

The blockchain effort began on other infrastructure before NEXPACE built a dedicated Avalanche Layer 1 with AvaCloud, citing a need for more control over customisation and gas fees. Henesys, named after the original game's starting town, launched with NXPC in 2025.

How NEXPACE Works

Henesys is a purpose-built Layer 1 on Avalanche infrastructure through AvaCloud, which lets NEXPACE configure fees for gaming workloads. That is how player transactions can be gasless while NXPC stays the fee asset.

Item supply is not set by developers issuing items at will. The Reactor converts between token and items in two directions: Fission turns NXPC into NFT item collections from a shared pool, and Fusion burns items back into NXPC, so the item-to-token ratio responds to player behaviour rather than to a patch note.

In MapleStory N, the flagship title, players earn NESOLET through gameplay, mint it into the currency NESO one for one, and convert NESO to NXPC at a fixed 100,000 to 1 rate.

NXPC Token Utility

NXPC has four documented roles. It is the fee token of Henesys. It is the asset used to create items, exchanged for limited-supply NFTs through Fission and reclaimed through Fusion. It is the reserve behind NESO at a fixed published rate. And it is the reward asset, paid on a halving schedule the whitepaper compares to Bitcoin's. Supply is fixed at 1 billion, with a quarterly burn tied to 20 percent of platform revenue.

What Makes NEXPACE Unique?

Two things stand out. The first is provenance: one of the longest-running MMORPGs in the world moving into on-chain ownership. The second is the item economy, where creating an item costs NXPC and destroying one returns it, so item supply and token supply are mechanically linked.

How NEXPACE Differs from Similar Projects

Against Immutable, which supplies infrastructure to many third-party games, NEXPACE is vertically integrated around one owned franchise. Against Ronin, also a chain built for one flagship title, it launched from an established two-decade IP, not a new game. Against Gala and Beam, it concentrates on depth in one universe.

How NEXPACE Is Secured

Henesys uses Avalanche consensus with its own validator arrangement rather than sharing a general-purpose chain's security, so validator composition is worth checking rather than assuming. Items and NXPC are auditable on the MSU explorer. The documentation also describes two-factor authentication and permission controls, which matter because much of a player's holdings sit behind a game account.

Risks and Considerations

The largest risk is common to all game economies: the model only works if people play. Item scarcity, the Fission and Fusion loop and the burn all depend on sustained engagement, which in MMORPGs is cyclical. Because the chain is operated for one ecosystem, holders take on operator dependence, and regulatory treatment of tradable in-game assets varies by jurisdiction.

Why NEXPACE Matters

NEXPACE is one of the few blockchain gaming projects where the intellectual property, the player base and the publisher all existed and were successful before the token did, and it offers a rigorous answer to item inflation.

Where Can You Buy NEXPACE (NXPC)?

NXPC is listed on major centralized exchanges, having reached spot trading in May 2025 after distribution through Binance HODLer Airdrops, and trades on decentralized venues. Players will need to move it onto Henesys through the official Swap and Warp service.

Storage Options After Purchase

NXPC can be held in any wallet supporting the chain on which you acquired it, including MetaMask and other EVM wallets, with hardware support through Ledger. Henesys is EVM-compatible, so the same wallets work once the network is added.
