SPACE ID is a universal name service network: a platform for registering, trading and managing human-readable Web3 domain names across many blockchains, plus developer tooling that resolves those names no matter which naming protocol issued them. Instead of typing a long hexadecimal address, a user sends funds to something like alice.bnb. ID is the network's native token, used for payments, staking discounts and governance.
The part that separates SPACE ID from a single-chain naming service is its aggregation layer. It operates its own top-level domains, and it also acts as one interface and one software development kit for names issued by other providers, so an application integrates once rather than once per naming protocol.

SPACE ID's individual founders are not prominently identified in the project's own documentation, which presents the work as a team effort rather than around named individuals. What is documented clearly is the timeline and the backing.
The project began in 2022 and launched SPACE ID 1.0 in August of that year with the .bnb Name Service on BNB Chain, gathering roughly 361,000 registrations and 168,000 unique domain holders in its first six months. Binance Labs led a seed round in September 2022, and a 10 million US dollar strategic round led by Polychain Capital and dao5 followed in February 2023. SPACE ID 2.0, announced in early 2023, broadened the product from a single name service into a multi-chain platform and added the .arb Name Service on Arbitrum. The ID token launched in March 2023 through a Binance Launchpad sale.
The published roadmap runs in three stages: .bnb domains for BNB Chain from 2022, multi-chain Web3 domains and 20 or more top-level domains from 2023, and name services for AI agents from 2025.
Names are registered as NFTs with renewal periods Registering a name mints an NFT that represents ownership. Names have expiry dates and must be renewed, the same economic model used by conventional domain registries and by other Web3 naming protocols.
Records map a name to addresses and metadata A registered name carries custom records, so wallets and applications can resolve it to an address on a supported chain, or to other identity data the owner chooses to publish.
Registration is optimized for speed and cost The .bnb Name Service is built on the technical foundations of Ethereum Name Service but rebuilt around BNB Chain's constraints. Using a multi-chain oracle and an EIP-712 signature distributor, registration collapses into a single click, avoiding the commit-and-wait step the original design requires.
One SDK resolves names from many providers The Web3 Name SDK and API give developers a single integration point that returns a user's naming data regardless of which protocol issued it. That is the piece that turns a collection of separate registries into a network.
The documentation lists three functions for ID.
Staking is the first. Staking ID reduces trading fees in the SPACE ID domain marketplace and gives registration discounts. It also drives the Premier Club booster tiers, which activate at 100, 500 and 2,000 ID staked, with no benefit beyond the top tier and no lock-up period.
Payment is the second. ID can be used inside the ecosystem and for Web3 Name SDK integrations.
Governance is the third. ID holders vote on SPACE ID DAO proposals, which are drafted on the governance forum and then decided by Snapshot vote. Passing requires at least 50 percent support from addresses holding a combined minimum of 5,000,000 ID. Holders can delegate their voting power and revoke that delegation at any time.
The token has a maximum of 2,000,000,000 ID. The initial distribution was 20 percent seed sale, 15 percent core team, 13 percent marketing, 12 percent foundation, 10 percent ecosystem, 10 percent community airdrop, 8 percent strategic sale, 7 percent advisers and 5 percent to the Binance Launchpad sale, with multi-year cliffs and quarterly or monthly vesting for the private allocations. An early adopter airdrop of 47,600,000 ID went to roughly 271,000 addresses holding a .bnb or .arb name at a March 2023 snapshot, weighted by holding duration, time to expiry, primary name status and other on-chain signals.
SPACE ID chose aggregation over exclusivity. Rather than competing to be the one naming standard, it built the layer that reads all of them, which means its relevance grows as the number of naming protocols grows rather than shrinking with each new competitor.
Its revenue model is also more explicit than most naming projects. Half of net platform revenue, covering domain registrations, renewals, gift card purchases and marketplace fees, is directed to buying and burning ID on a quarterly basis. The other half goes to a DAO treasury held in stablecoins and governed by token holders. That links a real service business to the token in a way that does not depend on emissions.
The registries are smart contracts on their respective chains, so name ownership inherits the security of BNB Chain, Arbitrum or whichever network issued the name. Ownership is represented as an NFT, meaning the usual rules apply: whoever controls the wallet controls the name, and a transfer is final.
The ID token is deployed at the same address, 0x2dFF88A56767223A5529eA5960Da7A3F5f766406, on both Ethereum and BNB Chain. Treasury funds approved by DAO vote are disbursed by multisignature signers elected by the DAO rather than by a single administrator.
Addresses are the single worst part of the on-chain user experience, and naming is the most direct fix available. SPACE ID matters because it treated naming as infrastructure rather than a product to own outright: one interface for users, one SDK for developers, and an economic loop where service revenue flows back to the token. If readable identity becomes standard across chains and, increasingly, across autonomous agents, the aggregation layer is a more defensible position than any individual top-level domain.
ID is listed on a range of centralized exchanges following its Binance Launchpad debut, and it trades on decentralized exchanges on BNB Chain and Ethereum. Availability and pairs vary by jurisdiction.
ID is commonly available on:
Pairs such as ID/USDT and ID/BNB are typical where supported.
Because the same contract address is used on two chains, confirm which network you are sending on before any deposit or withdrawal. Domain NFTs should be stored in the wallet that will actually use the name, since ownership and control travel with the NFT.
