What Is Bitway (BTW)?

Bitway describes itself as an internet capital gateway: infrastructure connecting on-chain liquidity to risk-managed yield strategies from both decentralised and traditional finance. It has two halves. Bitway Earn is a set of staking vaults on BNB Smart Chain where users deposit stablecoins and receive voucher tokens accruing yield from strategies run off chain. Bitway Ledger is a Bitcoin-compatible Layer 1 with native BTC-backed lending and a validator-run bridge, and BTW is the token across both.

Who Founded Bitway? (History)

Bitway was founded in 2023 and operated as Side Protocol before rebranding, a lineage visible in its audit history, where the first review from January 2025 is titled for Side Protocol. Public sources name Shane Qiu as co-founder and Dave Hrycyszyn as chief technology officer, and report backing including TRON DAO and YZi Labs, though no team page is published. The token generation event was in March 2026.

How Bitway Works

A user deposits USDT or USDC into a Bitway Earn vault and receives a voucher token such as bwUSDT, representing their share and accrued yield. Most deposits then move into custodial arrangements the documentation lists as multi-signature wallets, regulated exchanges or third-party custodians, while a portion stays on chain for withdrawals, offered as a standard unstake settling in about seven days or an instant flash unstake. Bitway Ledger is separate, a proof-of-stake Layer 1 preserving native Bitcoin addresses.

BTW Token Utility

BTW is the utility and governance token across Bitway's products, with documented utilities including staking for access to capped products, boosted rewards and preferential fees, ecosystem incentives, and voting on upgrades and treasury use. On Bitway Ledger it is the native gas token, with validators staking BTW for consensus and delegators earning a share.

What Makes Bitway Unique?

The Bitcoin lending design. Most ways to borrow against BTC need either a custodian or a wrapped representation on another chain, whereas Bitway keeps collateral in a Bitcoin script the borrower controls, with liquidation via pre-signed transactions that execute only under oracle-attested conditions.

How Bitway Differs from Similar Projects

Stacks and Core extend Bitcoin's usefulness through a settlement-anchored contract layer and a hybrid consensus chain, while Babylon focuses on Bitcoin staking. On the yield side, Ethena runs a delta-neutral strategy and Maple provides institutional credit. Bitway sits across both categories, which is the pitch and the main thing to scrutinise.

How Bitway Is Secured

Bitway Ledger is secured by delegated proof of stake, and the bridge uses FROST threshold signatures across the validator set rather than a single custodian, with key refresh so signers rotate without migrating the vault. Lending is built on Bitcoin scripts so collateral does not leave the borrower's control, though the borrower pre-signs transactions permitting liquidation. Audits by BlockSec and Salus are published.

Risks and Considerations

• Earn is custodial in practice. Most deposits move to custodial accounts.
• Strategy risk. Yield has come from market-neutral trading on a centralised venue.
• Withdrawal timing. Standard unstaking takes days and little liquidity stays on chain.
• Not principal protection. Principal-protected language is not a guarantee.
• Young token. BTW launched in March 2026, so unlock schedules matter.
• Ambitious scope. A Bitcoin L1, a bridge and a yield business are each hard.
• Limited disclosure. Leadership is not documented in official materials.

Why Bitway Matters

Bitway is one of few projects attempting non-custodial Bitcoin lending using Bitcoin's own scripting rather than a wrapper, addressing a long-standing gap: large idle BTC balances with no trust-minimised way to borrow against them.

Where Can You Buy Bitway (BTW)?

BTW is listed on several centralised exchanges, including HTX, and trades on decentralised exchanges on BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum. Because it exists on multiple networks, match the withdrawal network and verify the contract address in the documentation.

Storage Options After Purchase

The BEP-20 and ERC-20 deployments work with any EVM wallet, such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet, with hardware signing advisable for larger balances. Holding BTW natively on Bitway Ledger needs a wallet supporting that chain.
