Tether (USDT) is a fiat-backed stablecoin designed to track the value of the U.S. dollar at approximately 1 USDT ≈ 1 USD. It exists as a blockchain token so users can hold and transfer "digital dollars" on crypto networks without the price volatility typically associated with assets like BTC or ETH.
USDT is widely used across crypto markets as a base trading pair, a cash-like settlement asset, and a way to move value between exchanges, wallets, and decentralized applications.

USDT is issued on multiple networks, often in different token formats (e.g., ERC-20 on Ethereum, TRC-20 on Tron, SPL on Solana). Functionally, these are the same asset conceptually, but the network you choose affects:
USDT is a centralized stablecoin. The issuer can apply controls such as freezing tokens at specific addresses under certain circumstances (for example, in response to legal requests or sanctions compliance). This is materially different from censorship-resistant assets like BTC.
Even though USDT is designed to stay near $1, it is not risk-free:
USDT is available on most major cryptocurrency exchanges and is commonly accessible via swap features in wallets or decentralized exchanges (availability depends on network support and local restrictions).
