What Is AWE (AWE)?

AWE Network is AI agent infrastructure whose token runs on Base. Its core product is the Autonomous Worlds Engine, described in project documentation as a modular framework for persistent worlds where many software agents interact with each other and with people. Two surfaces sit on top: World.fun, a launcher for creating worlds and deploying agents, and AWESOME, a service layer connecting agents to outside tools through the Model Context Protocol.

Who Founded AWE? (History)

The project launched in 2019 as STP Network, a Web3 governance and tokenization project, according to its documentation. In 2023 it turned toward autonomous worlds, starting with a name service and Clique, a layer 3 for AI-enhanced gaming. By late 2024 the team had committed to the Autonomous Worlds Engine, and in early 2025 a vote approved the rebrand, with STPT on Ethereum swapped one to one for AWE on Base.

The people behind AWE Network are not publicly identified in the project's official documentation, which covers history, architecture, governance and audits but names no founders or executives. Treat team identity as unverified.

How AWE Works

Documentation describes an orchestration loop rather than a single agent runtime. World orchestration sets a world's rules and resources, while agent and event orchestration create the participants and the events acting on them. Events change world state, agents respond using memory and an activity generator, and feedback loops refine the world over time. Scale is attributed to parallel processing and GPU-optimized workloads, and because inference costs compute, in-world actions are metered in AWE.

AWE Token Utility

In World.fun, AWE is spent on world and agent generation, staked to deploy an agent, and staked as pooled rewards in worlds that distribute prizes. Users can tip agents, and AWE Cloud tool usage settles in the token. Governance runs offchain on Snapshot over five days and onchain on Tally with a three day waiting period and a quorum of ten percent of supply. Tokens must be delegated before they vote.

What Makes AWE Unique?

The stated unit of value is the world: a shared environment with rules, resources and many agents that keeps running whether or not a user is present, rather than a single agent or a token launchpad. The MCP layer is the second distinguishing choice, giving agents a standard route to outside tools.

How AWE Differs from Similar Projects

Virtuals Protocol is the nearest comparison as a Base-based agent platform, but its center of gravity is agent tokens and their markets. Bittensor incentivizes machine learning across subnets rather than staging simulations. AWE claims something narrower: many agents orchestrated inside one environment, with payment and identity rails so they can transact.

Scope matters: those audits cover token and bridge contracts, while the orchestration engine is off-chain software whose correctness is not enforced by the blockchain.

Storage Options After Purchase

Any wallet supporting Base works, including self-custody and hardware wallets through an EVM interface. Exchange custody suits trading, but governance requires holding AWE yourself and delegating voting power. Confirm the Base network before sending, since the same address format exists on chains where AWE is absent.
