CROSS is the native coin of a gaming focused, EVM compatible layer 1 blockchain built by NEXUS Co., Ltd. and supported by the Open Game Foundation, a non profit registered in Switzerland. Its game token protocol lets any game issue assets that players hold in their own wallets rather than on a studio's server. CROSS pays gas, backs validator staking, and is required to deploy game contracts and tokens. The project has announced a rebrand to ONEchain with the ticker changing to ONE on 4 September 2026, which it says involves no contract migration, no token swap and no change to balances.
Official resources:
The chain is built by NEXUS Co., Ltd., a Korea based company listed on KOSDAQ since 2014 that began as a game developer and, per the Foundation's materials, moved into blockchain gaming infrastructure after an investment in December 2024. Neither the whitepaper nor the Foundation site names individual founders. In 2026 NEXUS agreed to take a majority stake in ONE Store, a South Korean app marketplace, which joined the network as a validator that July.
The execution client is a fork of go-ethereum, so the chain behaves like an EVM network and standard Solidity tooling works directly. Mainnet uses chain ID 612055 with a one second block period.
Consensus is documented in the client as Proof of Staked Authority, combining the Istanbul messaging protocol, BLS aggregate signatures and a stake weighted validator election. The council is capped at 21 top staked validators, rotates every 24 hours, and validators must self delegate at least one million coins and pass business verification. An earlier whitepaper describes a Quorum based BFT design, so the consensus layer has evolved.
The coin pays gas, funds player reward programs, and is required for developers to deploy contracts and game specific tokens. It backs validator staking, with rewards and slashing in the same asset. Total supply is stated as fixed at one billion.
The distinguishing feature is distribution, not cryptography. Rather than going out to find players, this chain is being wired into an app marketplace its parent company owns, which also runs as a validator. It is paired with fee delegation, a transaction type with a separate fee payer that lets a studio sponsor gas so a player can act without holding any coin.
Ronin grew out of one successful game and later opened up. Immutable focuses on scaling for games settling to Ethereum. WEMIX, also from a Korean game publisher, is the closest comparison. What sets this project apart is ownership of a consumer distribution channel.
The validator council is elected by stake, rotates daily, and is subject to slashing for misbehavior. Validators also sign periodic checkpoints of finalized blocks into a verification contract on BNB Smart Chain, a publicly readable external anchor for the chain's history.
Validator identity requirements and a 21 seat council make this a permissioned validator set in practice, and control is concentrated further by a parent company that owns both a validator and the distribution channel.
There is also a documentation gap. The whitepaper states a fixed supply with no additional issuance, while the execution client documents per block validator rewards starting near 9.51 coins and halving annually across ten tiers. Check current tokenomics disclosures before drawing conclusions about supply. The rebrand will create naming confusion across venues, and blockchain gaming has repeatedly failed to retain players once incentives fade.
The question this project poses is whether a blockchain game economy works better behind a mainstream app store than in front of a crypto exchange. Owning the storefront, sponsoring the gas and hiding the wallet is a coherent answer to why blockchain games have not reached ordinary players.
CROSS trades on centralized exchanges and on chain through ONE DEX, and a bridged representation circulates on BNB Smart Chain. Confirm which network a venue delivers before withdrawing.
Any EVM compatible wallet holds the coin once the network is added using the chain ID and RPC endpoint in the documentation. The project's own option is ONEpocket, which uses social sign in with PIN and biometric protection.
