Trust Wallet Token is the utility token of Trust Wallet, a self custody crypto wallet available as a mobile app and a browser extension. Its official litepaper describes TWT as "a BEP-20 utility token designed to support growth, loyalty, and user engagement within the Trust Wallet ecosystem," running on BNB Smart Chain. It gives users fee discounts, loyalty rewards and premium access rather than powering a blockchain, and the litepaper states plainly that holding it grants no ownership or equity in Trust Wallet.
Official resources:
Trust Wallet was created by Viktor Radchenko, who began building it in 2017 and shipped the first mobile app that year. Binance acquired it on July 31, 2018, its first acquisition. Radchenko stepped down as chief executive in 2022, succeeded by Eowyn Chen. TWT launched separately in 2020 through community distribution, not a fundraise.
Trust Wallet is non custodial. Keys are generated and held on the user device, and the company states it never accesses or stores them. Multi-chain support comes from Wallet Core, an open source library Trust Wallet publishes and other projects also use. TWT sits on top as an incentive layer: benefits unlock by holding or locking it while using wallet features, with actions such as swaps and deposits earning points that raise a user tier.
SWIFT is Trust Wallet's smart contract wallet, built with account abstraction, and Wallet Core is the open source chain integration library. The Security Scanner warns about risky transactions, and Trust Premium is the first loyalty program built on the TWT tier system.
The litepaper lists six categories. Loyalty rewards go to users who lock TWT and use core features, paid as airdrops, discounts or yield boosts. Earn utility covers use as collateral where independent DeFi protocols support it. Fee discounts apply to swaps and to fiat buy and sell flows. Gas payment utility allows TWT to be used to pay gas at a discount against non native tokens. Service access unlocks faster support, and community utility provides voting on marketing topics on a one address, one vote basis. Supply is fixed by the contract.
Most tokens in this category govern a protocol. TWT does not, and the litepaper says so directly. It is a consumer loyalty instrument attached to a very large distribution surface, closer to a retail rewards program than a governance token, so its usefulness tracks product engagement, not protocol fees.
SafePal has the closest model, pairing a widely distributed wallet with a BNB Chain token used for discounts and promotions. WalletConnect Token is infrastructure focused, tied to the protocol connecting wallets and applications rather than one wallet. Safe centers on smart accounts and treasuries, with governance as its token's main role.
The wallet handles self custody across many chains, swaps, fiat purchases and staking. For the token, the practical uses are locking TWT to reach a loyalty tier, paying reduced swap or fiat fees, covering gas at a discount and voting in community polls.
Keys stay on the device under device level encryption, with the recovery phrase as the only backup. Trust Wallet states that its products use strong encryption verified by independent auditors, that it undergoes regular third party audits, and that it runs continuous monitoring and a bug bounty.
A lost recovery phrase is unrecoverable, and no support process can restore it. Most losses here come from phishing, malicious approvals and fake apps rather than flaws in the wallet. For the token, utility is discretionary and defined by the issuer: the litepaper describes utilities as proposed, tiers as subject to adjustment and rewards as discretionary, so benefits can change. A meaningful share of supply remains uncirculated and allocated to growth, liquidity, partnerships and team incentives, and TWT has no claim on Trust Wallet revenue.
Trust Wallet sits where many people first take control of their own keys, and TWT is a live test of whether a consumer loyalty token can hold value from product usage alone, with no protocol fees or governance behind it.
TWT trades on centralized exchanges including Binance, KuCoin, Bybit and MEXC, mostly against stablecoin pairs, and on BNB Smart Chain decentralized exchanges such as PancakeSwap. The litepaper notes it can also be bought inside the app without a gas fee.
Trust Wallet itself is the obvious option, since benefits require holding or locking the token in the app, though any BEP-20 compatible wallet can hold TWT. For larger balances, connect a hardware wallet so signing keys stay offline. Never enter your recovery phrase into a website or share it with support staff, since no legitimate representative asks for it.
