Genius, branded as Genius Terminal, is a self-custody trading application that puts spot swaps, perpetual futures, pre-launch token markets and tokenized equities behind a single account balance across several blockchains. Its documentation calls it "the first private and final onchain terminal" and frames it as a trading OS for professional users who want "DeFi without DeFi UX." The design goal is to remove the parts of on-chain trading that slow traders down: bridging steps, wallet approval popups, and holding a separate gas token on every network. GENIUS is the platform's token, deployed on BNB Chain.

The official documentation does not name any individual team members. It refers only to "the Genius team" and to the Genius Foundation, which handles token distribution, and it does not disclose a legal entity or jurisdiction.
In a February 2026 interview with DL News, Armaan Kalsi was identified as co-founder and CEO of Genius Trading, and also as a co-founder of Shuttle Labs, described there as a New York software studio building non-custodial cross-chain infrastructure. The same reporting states that YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, made a multi-eight-figure investment and that Changpeng Zhao joined as an advisor. Beyond the CEO, the founding team is not publicly identified in the project's own materials.
The token itself arrived later than the product. The documentation contains a commitment that a GENIUS token would be created before April 12, 2026, and distribution ran through Binance's HODLer Airdrops program in 2026, allocating 10,000,000 GENIUS, or 1% of the one billion total supply, to BNB Simple Earn and On-Chain Yields subscribers over a snapshot window of May 11 to 13, 2026. Binance subsequently listed GENIUS for spot trading.
Accounts are created through OAuth logins such as Google, Apple or an external wallet, with key infrastructure provided by Turnkey and Lit Protocol. Each user receives two addresses, one for EVM networks and one for Solana. Private keys can be exported, and the documentation warns that possession of the key grants full control of the account.
Three ideas do most of the work. Chain abstraction means the interface presents one balance across networks, with the docs stating there is "No multi-approval bridging. No asset wrapping." Signatureless execution removes per-trade wallet confirmations. Atomic routing is described as letting a "Multi-chain balance behave as one."
Gas is handled for the user on most networks. On EVM chains other than Avalanche and HyperEVM, Genius sponsors transactions using EIP-7702 with a 10% premium when the user holds no native token. On Solana a feepayer wallet covers the cost with roughly a $1 premium, which users can avoid by holding SOL and setting tips to zero. Avalanche and HyperEVM require the user to hold AVAX or HYPE.
Orders route through two paths: Fast (Direct) Swaps optimized for latency and Aggregator Swaps optimized for price. Perpetuals are traded through an integration with Hyperliquid, and moving spot balances into Hyperliquid USDC is described as gas free and signature free with confirmation between 1 and 30 seconds.
This is the part a buyer should read carefully. The official documentation commits to the token's existence and describes how it was distributed, but it does not define staking, governance, fee capture or burn mechanics for GENIUS. No such mechanisms are documented at the time of writing.
What is documented is distribution and incentives. A Season 1 airdrop allocated 70,000,000 GENIUS through the Genius Foundation, with two claim paths: an early claim inside a seven-day window carrying a 70% burn penalty, or a one-year lockup that releases the full allocation with no penalty. A separate option let recipients burn their allocation for a pro-rata share of collected fees inside a 48-hour window after the token generation event. Genius Points seasons distribute a fixed pool pro rata to effective trading volume, with concave scaling applied so that large traders do not absorb the whole pool. Referrals pay 35% of the trading fees paid by referred users, settled in cash rather than points, after platform fees activate.
The distinguishing choice is that Genius optimizes the trading surface rather than the settlement layer. It ships no chain of its own. Instead it treats venues as backend infrastructure, stating that "Protocols become APIs. Bridges become pipes. Vaults become config options." Combined with sponsored gas and signatureless execution, the result is closer to a centralized exchange workflow while assets stay in a wallet the user can export.
Hyperliquid and dYdX operate their own venues and capture fees at the matching engine. Jupiter aggregates within one ecosystem. Genius sits above all of them as a multi-venue client, which means it competes on execution quality, coverage and interface rather than on liquidity it owns. That is a lighter business model, but it also makes the platform dependent on the venues it routes to, and it means the token has no protocol-level fee stream of its own unless one is defined later.
Genius operates as a self-custody platform. Users can export private keys and withdraw to external wallets. Authentication is handled by Turnkey and Lit Protocol, with two-factor options including passkeys backed by device biometrics or hardware keys, email codes, SMS and WhatsApp, plus configurable session length. The platform has publicly described anti-sybil enforcement, working with its wallet authentication providers to flag anomalous accounts and reclaim points earned through botting.
The documentation does not reference any third-party smart contract audit, bug bounty or formal security assessment.
On-chain trading has spent years distributing liquidity across dozens of venues and chains while leaving the user to reassemble it manually. A terminal that hides that fragmentation without taking custody addresses a real friction point, and the involvement of YZi Labs put it in front of a large audience quickly. The open question is whether an aggregation layer can build a durable token economy when the fee-generating venues sit underneath it.
GENIUS is listed on Binance following its HODLer Airdrop distribution, and is available on other centralized venues that have added it. On-chain, the token is a BEP-20 asset on BNB Chain and can be traded through BNB Chain decentralized exchanges. Verify the contract address on BscScan before swapping, since token names are not unique on-chain.
GENIUS is a BEP-20 token, so any BNB Chain compatible wallet will hold it, and a hardware wallet paired with a software front end is the safer option for long-term balances. Because the token lives on BNB Chain, make sure your wallet is on that network and that you hold a small amount of BNB for gas when moving it. Note that the Genius Terminal account wallet and a personal wallet are different things: if you want full control, export or withdraw to a wallet whose seed phrase you generated yourself.
