MVL, short for Mass Vehicle Ledger, is a blockchain project built around real mobility businesses rather than a protocol looking for users. The team runs a ride-hailing service called TADA, an electric vehicle brand called ONiON Mobility, and a vehicle financing platform called Musubi, then uses blockchain to record the data those businesses generate and share value with the drivers and riders who produce it.
The MVL token is the settlement and reward asset for that ecosystem. It is multichain rather than the gas coin of a sovereign chain: an ERC-20 on Ethereum, bMVL on BNB Chain, and jMVL on TON. The team later launched an MVL mainnet on Base, as that network's exclusive decentralized physical infrastructure partner, to consolidate data previously spread across Ethereum, Base, IoTeX and cloud servers.
Official sources:
MVL was founded in 2018 by Kay Kyeongsik Woo, a Korean entrepreneur, and is headquartered in Singapore. The premise was that mobility platforms monopolize the data their users create, and that the value of that data should be shared with the people who generate it.
Rather than wait for existing platforms to open up, MVL built its own. TADA launched in Singapore on 26 July 2018 with a zero-commission model for drivers, then expanded to Vietnam in January 2019 and Cambodia in May 2019, holding Singapore taxi brokerage and ride-hailing licenses. ONiON Mobility followed in 2022 with the T1 electric three-wheeler and a cargo variant, plus battery swap stations and charging infrastructure, and the Clutch wallet arrived in April 2022. Other milestones include a 2021 Series B and energy partnerships with TotalEnergies and PTT.
MVL is best read as four connected layers:
Operating businesses that produce data TADA generates trip, payment and routing records; ONiON generates vehicle production, maintenance, battery and charging records. The documentation describes a footprint spanning hundreds of thousands of drivers and millions of riders.
An incentive protocol that pays for participation Drivers who supply more trips and riders who use the service consistently earn MVL in proportion to their contribution, with rewards tied to revenue from the underlying businesses rather than to inflation alone.
A wallet that bridges Web2 and Web3 Clutch is the account layer. It uses social login rather than seed-phrase onboarding, which matters because most TADA users are not crypto users.
On-chain settlement MVL Fi runs the bridge between Ethereum and BNB Chain plus the staking programs backing liquidity, while the mainnet on Base is meant to bring ecosystem data and transactions into one network.
MVL is used for:
The documentation states a total issuance of 30,000,000,000 MVL, of which 2,197,041,137 tokens have been permanently burned, leaving a maximum of 27,802,958,863. The contracts are MVL on Ethereum at 0xa849eaae994fb86afa73382e9bd88c2b6b18dc71, bMVL on BNB Chain at 0x5f588efaf8eb57e3837486e834fc5a4e07768d98, and jMVL on TON at EQD2yazA2wf5AY2joEzGUDGk0cQWxEa2NdiP4Zgf9-eF04tp.
MVL does not run its own validator set. Its tokens inherit the security of Ethereum, BNB Chain and TON, and the mainnet inherits from Base, which settles to Ethereum. Practical security depends on the quality of the token, staking and bridging contracts; on bridge operation across three networks; on custody design in Clutch, where social login trades some self-custody purity for usability; and on the integrity of off-chain data collection, since a chain records what it is given.
Most decentralized physical infrastructure projects start with a token and hope hardware follows. MVL started with vehicles, drivers and charging stations, then added the token layer, which makes it a useful test of whether operating businesses genuinely benefit from on-chain incentives. Musubi is the sharpest version of that test: it either lowers borrowing costs for real drivers or it does not.
MVL trades on centralized exchanges, with liquidity historically concentrated on Korean venues, and on decentralized exchanges on Ethereum and BNB Chain. Availability varies by country, so confirm the pair, network and token contract before trading.
MVL is commonly associated with venues such as:
Pairs are typically quoted against KRW on Korean venues and USDT elsewhere.
MVL can be held on an exchange, in Clutch (the project's own wallet, most tightly integrated with TADA and ONiON rewards), in an EVM-compatible wallet on Ethereum or BNB Chain with the contract added manually, in a TON wallet for jMVL, or in a hardware wallet. The three deployments are separate tokens on separate networks: sending MVL to a BNB Chain address will not work. Use the official bridge and verify addresses before any transfer.
