SuperWalk is a "move to earn" fitness application that pays token rewards for verified walking and running. GRND is its governance and reward token, deployed on the Kaia blockchain (the network formerly known as Klaytn) with a bridged deployment on Arbitrum.
The app is built by Proground Inc., a Seoul-based sports technology company, and it works on a two-tier model. Basic Mode is a reward pedometer that anyone can use without owning an NFT, and pays the softer utility token WALK. Pro Mode requires an NFT sneaker and pays GRND. It also chose an established public chain over launching bespoke infrastructure, which lowers the engineering surface it has to secure but ties its liquidity to the health of the Kaia ecosystem.
GRND inherits its settlement security from Kaia, a public EVM-compatible chain with its own validator set. Application-level security depends on Proground's own controls.
Two facts here were verified by reading the contracts directly rather than taken from documentation. The Kaia GRND contract at 0x84F8C3C8d6eE30a559D73Ec570d574f671E82647 returns the zero address for owner(), which matches the team's January 2026 announcement that ownership was renounced. However, the token sits behind an upgradeable proxy whose EIP-1967 admin slot is not empty, so the implementation behind that address can still be replaced by whoever controls the proxy admin. Renounced ownership and immutable code are not the same thing. On Arbitrum, the GRND contract owner was moved to a multisig in May 2026, and cross-chain messaging was migrated from LayerZero V1 to V2 in the same window.
SuperWalk is one of the few move-to-earn products from the 2022 cohort that is still operating with a live app, a functioning token, custody arrangements with a regulated Korean custodian and continued contract maintenance. Whether or not the category recovers, it is a useful reference case for how a consumer fitness app tries to sustain a token economy after the initial incentive wave ends.
