Backed acquires the underlying MSTR shares, places them in segregated custody, and mints a matching quantity of tokens; redemption reverses the process. Direct issuance and redemption require KYC and a $5,000 minimum and operate on business days when the U.S. market is open, while secondary trading continues around the clock. Corporate actions are handled through rebasing rather than separate payments: dividends are reinvested into additional units of the same asset, net of applicable taxes, and stock splits adjust balances proportionally.
Its functions are holding continuous exposure to the MSTR share price outside brokerage hours, redeeming with the issuer subject to KYC and the minimum size, and composability, since the token behaves like any other on-chain asset. The documentation is direct that an xStock does not convey shareholder rights such as voting, and holders have no legal claim to the underlying shares themselves.
MSTR is itself a leveraged proxy for bitcoin, because the company funds bitcoin purchases with equity and debt issuance. Tokenizing it puts that equity exposure on the same rails as the asset it tracks, so a single wallet can hold bitcoin and a bitcoin treasury equity side by side.
Against other xStocks such as Tesla xStock, NVIDIA xStock and SP500 xStock, the structure, issuer and mechanics are identical and only the underlying differs. MSTRX is available through exchanges and platforms partnered with xStocks, and on decentralized exchanges on the chains where it is issued, most actively Solana. Access is restricted in the United States and certain other jurisdictions, since xStocks are not marketed or offered there.
On Solana, MSTRX is a Token-2022 asset and needs a wallet supporting that standard, including the Scaled UI extension used to display rebased balances. On EVM chains, any standard or hardware wallet works. Self custody protects the token, not the claim: if the issuer or custodian structure fails, wallet security does not help.
