Fluent is an Ethereum Layer 2 that runs contracts written for different virtual machines inside one shared state, so a Solidity contract and a Rust contract can call each other directly in the same transaction. The project calls this blended execution. BLEND is its token, used for staking, incentives and ecosystem coordination.
One point worth stating early, because marketing copy often blurs it: BLEND is not the gas token. Fluent's own network parameters list the mainnet currency symbol as ETH. Fees are paid in ether, as on most Ethereum rollups.
Official sources:
Fluent is built by Fluent Labs, founded in 2023 by Dino Wentz and Marcus Wentz. In February 2025 the company announced an 8 million dollar round led by Polychain Capital, with participation reported from Primitive, dao5, Symbolic Capital, Builder Capital, Nomad Capital and Public Works.
The network spent an extended period in developer preview and public testnet. Mainnet and the BLEND token generation event followed on April 24, 2026. A public sale ran on Coinbase's Sonar platform from April 7 to 13, 2026, distributing 10 million BLEND, about 1 percent of initial supply, at 10 cents per token.
The documentation has not fully caught up with that launch. The getting-started page still describes Fluent as being in public testnet, while the network parameters page lists a separate mainnet entry. A live check on September 11, 2026 resolved that: the mainnet RPC at rpc.fluent.xyz returned chain ID 25363 with a block height above 15 million, so mainnet is genuinely live and the testnet wording is stale.
Fluent's architecture rests on one central idea and several supporting pieces:
A single execution target called rWasm rWasm is a reduced, verification-friendly variant of WebAssembly. Rather than running separate virtual machines side by side, Fluent simulates each supported environment and compiles everything down to rWasm. Account and state models for each environment are handled by specialized system contracts.
Atomic cross-environment calls Because everything ends up in one state machine, a Rust contract calling a Solidity contract is an ordinary internal call, not a message handed across an interpreter boundary. That is the practical difference from multi-VM chains that run environments in parallel and require an adapter between account models and ABI formats.
A zk-rollup settling to Ethereum Fluent is a zero-knowledge rollup. Its zkVM is implemented in SP1. Security and finality ultimately derive from Ethereum, with the usual rollup caveats about sequencing and proof submission.
Developer tooling The gblend CLI handles scaffolding, building and deployment across languages, and the Fluentbase SDK provides the Rust-side contract framework.
Network parameters: mainnet is chain ID 25363 with the explorer at fluentscan.xyz, testnet is 20994, and the developer preview is 20993. All three list ETH as the currency symbol.
On supply, the on-chain facts are unusually clean. A read of the Ethereum contract at 0xd8a271974e8edae9d7b58e3370dc1669427503f4 on September 11, 2026 returned the name Fluent, the symbol BLEND, 18 decimals, a cap() of exactly 1,000,000,000 tokens, and a total supply equal to that cap. In plain terms, the one billion ceiling is enforced by the contract itself rather than being a policy statement, and because supply already sits at the cap there is no headroom left to mint. The implementation behind the proxy does expose mint, burn and burnFrom functions guarded by role-based access control, which is what makes a future buyback and burn mechanically possible. The contract is a UUPS upgradeable proxy, so the implementation, including that cap logic, can be replaced by whoever holds the upgrade role.
Plenty of chains advertise multi-VM support. Almost all run separate execution environments and pass messages between them, so cross-environment calls are asynchronous, need adapters, and cannot be atomic. Fluent compiles the environments into one instruction format instead, making cross-language calls real function calls within a single state transition. That is a harder engineering problem and a genuinely different property for developers who want to mix Rust performance with Solidity's library ecosystem in one application.
Against general-purpose Ethereum rollups, Fluent competes on expressivity rather than throughput or fees. Against WebAssembly chains outside the Ethereum ecosystem, it keeps Ethereum settlement, tooling and wallet support. Against parallel multi-VM designs, the claim is atomic composability rather than coexistence. The tradeoff is complexity: simulating multiple account and execution models inside one machine is more moving parts than a plain EVM rollup, and correctness of that simulation is load-bearing.
As a zk-rollup, Fluent derives settlement security from Ethereum: state transitions are proved and verified rather than trusted. Practical security also depends on sequencer arrangements, proof submission liveness and the bridge contracts, which are the usual weak points for any young rollup and should be checked against current documentation rather than assumed. The BLEND token itself is protected by an on-chain supply cap and role-gated mint authority, with the important caveat that the contract is upgradeable.
The long-running problem with multi-language smart contract platforms is that composability breaks at the boundary between environments. Fluent attacks that boundary directly rather than routing around it, while staying inside Ethereum's security and tooling. If it works at scale, it removes a real constraint on what can be built in a single application. That is a specific, checkable claim rather than a general scaling promise, which makes Fluent easier to evaluate than most new Layer 2 networks.
BLEND became publicly tradable around the April 2026 mainnet launch, with initial distribution through a public sale and an airdrop. It trades on centralized exchanges and on decentralized venues on Ethereum and Fluent.
Several large venues listed BLEND at or shortly after launch. Listings and regional restrictions change, so confirm the pair on the exchange, and verify the Ethereum contract address before any on-chain swap.
BLEND is a standard ERC-20 on Ethereum, so any EVM wallet holds it, including hardware wallets such as Ledger and Trezor. To use BLEND on Fluent itself, add the network using chain ID 25363 and the official RPC, then bridge through the Fluent Portal; the bridged token on Fluent reads as 0x1385b8f55a84f2bda13eed4099d29eae03d553b2, verified on-chain. A Solana representation also exists. Add the token by contract address rather than by ticker search, since BLEND collides with several unrelated tokens.
