TAC is a Layer 1 blockchain that runs a full Ethereum Virtual Machine environment and wires it directly into The Open Network (TON), the chain most closely associated with Telegram. The goal is narrow and practical: let an existing Solidity application keep running unchanged, while a TON user interacts with it from a TON wallet without manually bridging assets first or learning a second wallet stack.
Mainnet went live on July 17, 2025. The execution layer is built on the Cosmos SDK with native EVM execution rather than a compatibility shim, and it reaches roughly two second finality using Tendermint style Byzantine fault tolerant consensus with delegated proof of stake. TAC is the native asset of that chain: it pays gas, secures the network through staking, and carries governance rights.
Official sources:
TAC was developed by a team building specifically for the TON and Telegram distribution surface, with Pavel Altukhov as co-founder and chief executive. The project raised roughly 11.5 million dollars across a seed round led by Hack VC and Symbolic Capital and a later strategic round, with participation from investors including Animoca Ventures, Spartan Capital, Paper Ventures, Primitive and Ankr.
The framing has stayed consistent since the first public announcements in 2025. TON has enormous consumer reach through Telegram but a smaller pool of mature decentralized finance contracts, while the EVM world has the opposite balance. TAC positions itself as the connective layer between those two rather than as a general purpose chain competing for every category of application.
TAC is best understood as three layers cooperating on a single user action:
TON side entry point Developers use the TAC SDK, published for TypeScript and Python, to prepare a cross chain transaction from a normal TON wallet session. The user signs on TON and does not need an EVM account of their own to begin.
The TON Adapter This is a distributed sequencer network rather than a conventional token bridge. Sequencers watch both TON and the TAC EVM layer, keep local records of relevant events, and independently build Merkle trees of what they observed. Sequencers are organized into groups that must reach three of five internal agreement, and several groups must submit identical Merkle trees before the network accepts a result. Groups stake collateral, which gives the arrangement an economic backstop.
The TAC EVM layer Once consensus is reached, the call executes on the EVM chain. Every Ethereum opcode, gas rule and state transition behaves as it does on Ethereum, so contracts do not need rewriting. Fees follow EIP-1559, and Tendermint finality means confirmed blocks are not reorganized.
Assets move under lock and mint in one direction and burn and release in the other. When a token crosses for the first time, the protocol automatically deploys the matching ERC-20 contract on TAC or Jetton contract on TON and records the original name, symbol, decimals and contract address. If execution fails on the destination chain, assets are rolled back to the sender through the same consensus path.
TAC has a total supply of 10 billion tokens. Its documented roles are:
Allocation at the token generation event was roughly 43.1 percent to community and ecosystem programs, 22.1 percent to early contributors, 20 percent to investors and advisors, and 14.8 percent to the foundation and reserve, with about 18 percent unlocked at launch and the remainder vesting over time. Maximum annual emission is capped at 5 percent, with maximum effective annual inflation stated at 2.1 percent.
Most attempts to reach Telegram users ask developers to rebuild in a new language and a new virtual machine. TAC inverts that. The application stays in Solidity on an EVM chain, and the adaptation work happens in proxy contracts and an SDK rather than in a rewrite. Combining a Cosmos SDK chain with native EVM execution also gives TAC deterministic finality and no reorganizations, which is a different security profile from optimistic rollups that rely on challenge windows.
Compared with EVM rollups on Ethereum, TAC settles on its own validator set instead of inheriting Ethereum security, so its trust assumptions are those of a sovereign proof of stake chain. Compared with other Cosmos SDK chains that added EVM support, the differentiator is the TON Adapter and the hybrid application pattern rather than general interchain messaging. Compared with building natively on TON, TAC trades TON's own virtual machine and tooling for direct reuse of Ethereum contracts and libraries.
Chain level security comes from delegated proof of stake with Tendermint consensus, where validators bond TAC and can be penalized. Cross chain security is separate and rests on the TON Adapter: multiple sequencer groups must independently produce matching Merkle trees, and groups stake collateral. The documentation states plainly that the sequencer network is currently distributed but not yet decentralized, with fuller decentralization on the roadmap. That is an important qualifier for anyone assessing bridge risk.
TAC carries a documented and serious incident in its history. On August 22, 2026 the network halted block production at height 24,671,475 after an exploit of a vulnerability in the shared Cosmos EVM module used by several chains. The root cause was a mismatch between two balance records: the EVM state database tracked only spendable tokens, while the Cosmos ledger also tracked locked vesting tokens that could be delegated, and delegating more than the spendable balance caused an unchecked subtraction to wrap. A postmortem published on September 1, 2026 put the drain at 2,985,651,403.40 TAC, emptying the account that held tokens delegated to validators. The foundation proposed a targeted state edit to restore the bonded pool and delegator positions, to strand tokens held in attacker linked addresses, and to cover the remaining shortfall of roughly 1.258 billion TAC from treasury reserves. Block production later resumed past the halt height.
Other considerations:
TAC is one of the more concrete attempts to solve a real distribution problem: mature EVM applications and mass consumer reach currently live on different chains. Whether the approach succeeds depends on adoption and on the sequencer network maturing, but the architecture is specific and testable rather than aspirational.
TAC trades on centralized exchanges, and it also exists as a bridged representation on TON as a Jetton and on BNB Chain as a BEP-20 token. Availability, pairs and eligibility vary by jurisdiction and by platform.
TAC is commonly listed on venues such as:
Pairs are typically quoted against USDT where supported.
Because TAC exists natively and in bridged forms on more than one network, confirm which representation you hold before any deposit or withdrawal.
