Resolution criteria
- This market resolves to YES if, on or before December 31, 2026, the United States federal government enacts a suspension of the federal excise tax on gasoline (currently 18.4 cents per gallon) and/or diesel fuel (currently 24.4 cents per gallon) such that the tax rate is reduced to 1 cent or less for a specified period.
- To qualify for a YES resolution:
- The suspension must be signed into law (or enacted via a congressional veto override) on or before December 31, 2026.
- The suspension must apply to the federal level; state-level gas tax suspensions or holidays do not count.
- The tax rate must be reduced to $0.01 or less; a partial reduction of the tax rate does not satisfy the criteria for "suspended."
