Prom is a zkEVM Layer 2 network built with the Polygon CDK toolkit. It batches transactions off the settlement chain, proves their correctness with zero-knowledge proofs, and posts those proofs back so that the L2 inherits security from the chain it settles to. Because it aims for full opcode-level EVM equivalence, contracts written for Ethereum can be deployed to Prom without rewriting them.

Execution A sequencer orders transactions and produces L2 blocks. Prom targets full EVM opcode compatibility rather than a compiler-level approximation, which is what lets unmodified Solidity contracts and standard Ethereum tooling work.
Proving A prover turns batches of executed transactions into succinct zero-knowledge proofs. Prom's materials describe combining zk-SNARK proof output with recursive techniques to keep verification cheap while raising throughput.
Verification and finality Proofs are verified on the settlement chain. Once a proof is accepted the state transition can no longer be disputed, which is the practical difference between zk-rollups and optimistic rollups with challenge windows.
Prom's documentation states that both the sequencer and the prover started out centralized, with decentralizing the sequencer and opening a prover market described as future work. A forced-batch mechanism exists so users can push transactions through and exit even if the sequencer censors them.
