The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is a joint venture between decentralised artificial intelligence projects that merged their tokens into a single asset, and FET is that merged token. It was formed in 2024 by Fetch.ai, SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol, with compute provider CUDOS joining later. Its stated purpose is an open alternative to corporate controlled artificial intelligence, spanning agents, models and compute. FET is used for network fees, staking and access to alliance services.
Official resources:
The alliance was announced in March 2024 and the token merger went live that June. Members were founded separately: Fetch.ai in 2017 by Humayun Sheikh, Toby Simpson and Thomas Hain, SingularityNET by Ben Goertzel and David Hanson, Ocean Protocol by Bruce Pon and Trent McConaghy. Under the merger, AGIX and OCEAN converted into FET at fixed ratios and FET was rebranded as the ASI token while keeping its ticker. Ocean Protocol left in October 2025 after a governance dispute.
The alliance runs a Cosmos SDK chain descended from the Fetch.ai mainnet, using CometBFT consensus with delegated proof of stake. Holders delegate FET to validators, validators produce blocks, and both share rewards.
On top sit the application services. Fetch.ai contributes an agent framework in which autonomous agents register in an on-chain directory called the Almanac and then discover and transact with each other. SingularityNET contributes a marketplace where services can be published and called for payment, and CUDOS contributes compute. A dedicated chain for artificial intelligence workloads is announced roadmap, not live infrastructure.
The components are the uAgents framework and Agentverse hosting, the Almanac registry, the ASI:One interface, the ASI-1 model family, ASI:Cloud compute from CUDOS, and the SingularityNET marketplace.
FET pays transaction fees on the alliance chain and is staked with validators to secure it, with delegators sharing rewards. It registers and discovers agents through the Almanac and pays for model inference and compute, and staked positions carry governance weight.
The merger itself. Separately funded token ecosystems consolidated their liquidity, treasuries and roadmaps into one asset covering agents, model services and compute, where most rivals address only one of those layers.
Bittensor coordinates competing machine learning subnets and rewards models for measured usefulness, a narrower design. Render coordinates GPU supply rather than agent logic, and Virtuals Protocol focuses on tokenised consumer agents. The alliance is broader than any of these, which is both its pitch and its main criticism, since breadth makes one defensible mechanism harder to identify.
Documented uses include building autonomous agents that negotiate on a user's behalf, publishing or consuming services through the marketplace, renting compute, paying for model inference, and staking or voting.
The chain is secured by delegated proof of stake with CometBFT, so safety depends on honest control of two thirds of staked weight and on how widely delegation is spread. FET also exists as an ERC-20 token and in wrapped form elsewhere, inheriting the host chain's security and that of whichever bridge produced the balance.
Execution risk is high relative to the scope claimed, since several headline products are recent or still in development and a new chain is a substantial undertaking. Ocean Protocol's 2025 departure shows a merged alliance can come apart, and further fragmentation would affect the token directly. FET competes in one of the most crowded narratives in crypto, where sentiment moves faster than shipped usage, and multi chain representations add bridge risk.
It is the largest attempt to consolidate decentralised artificial intelligence into one asset and roadmap, and a live test of whether token mergers produce a stronger project or merely a larger one. It is also an early attempt to give autonomous agents an economic identity.
FET is listed on most major centralised exchanges and trades on decentralised exchanges where it is deployed. Holders of legacy AGIX or OCEAN should check current alliance guidance on migration rather than assuming a conversion is open.
FET can be held natively on the alliance chain using the ASI Alliance wallet or other Cosmos wallets, which staking and governance require. As an ERC-20 token it sits in standard Ethereum and hardware wallets, so confirm which representation a withdrawal sends.
